Bieber's a Jew, right?

2013-04-15 11:15:04 AM
It's not a "big deal". It's just an appropriate opportunity to flame someone who desperately deserves it.

2013-04-15 11:15:43 AM
Problem isn't whether Anne Frank would like (or not like) today's Pop music.  The problem is that he made the visit about him.

Child star is full of himself - news at 11.

Can we all just agree to agree that talking about Justin Beiber is as bad, or worse, than being an actual WW2 Nazi Gestapo officer?

2013-04-15 11:16:26 AM
If that was the only thing he did, I can see what they might be saying (didn't rtfa).   But this is a growing line of d-baggery from him.

Who is this Beilieber guy and what did he do?

2013-04-15 11:17:28 AM
To be fair, it's probably a lot easier to be a Bieber fan if you can't actually see him or hear his music.

To paraphrase a line from Blue Thunder:  Justin is 19 - he's supposed to be stupid ..he just shouldn't abuse the privilege.

He's headed full-tilt towards a cliff, and telling everyone that he's running so fast he won't fall.  We should all just back out of the way until he's proven wrong.

2013-04-15 11:19:07 AM
Anne Frank couldn't have been a Bieber fan since she could neither see nor hear him!

2013-04-15 11:19:17 AM
You have to really hate the Jews to decide it's completely inappropriate for a young pop star to hope that if a celebrated icon of fierce independent thought had been born in less troubling times, that his music would appeal to her.

He should have been like, "Good, I am glad Anne Frank is deaf and dumb, and I don't care how hard it was for her to learn sign language."

2013-04-15 11:19:35 AM
It's because the 19 year old in question spent an hour in the museum and what he got out of it was that he would hope Anne would've been a fan of his.

But even if he wasn't famous or rich, he's 19.  I said a bunch of stupid shiat at 19 as well, and I didn't have a cadre of yes-men following me around.

/Besides, being deaf and mute she would've never been able to be a fan

This reminds me of the South Park Britney Spears Watch episode.
First the media overglorifies a pop celebrity and then they publicly tear them apart from every which angle once they get tired of them.
It's kind of sick.

Super Chronic: To be fair, it's probably a lot easier to be a Bieber fan if you can't actually see him or hear his music.

You know, I do kind of feel like that's what outrages people.  If it had been someone more dignified, and they'd made their comment in a more dignified way, such as, "I like to think that some of my songs could have comforted her, and wish she could have been happy listening to my music instead of trapped in her tiny world." people would have gone, "Awh, sweet".  Instead, it's Bieber, and essentially the backlash seems to be people going, "That's stupid, your music is crap and she'd NEVER like that."  It's really kind of rude to Bieber.

That's a sentence I never thought I'd type, or mean sincerely.

Many teen idols from back in my day have grown up and made something of themselves, and can be forgiven for their early teenybopper work. I would love to have a beer with Leonardo Dicaprio or Justin Timberlake, even Jonathan Taylor Thomas decided to leave showbiz at the height of his fame and get an education.

I was willing to give Bieber the benefit of the doubt in this regard, but he just seems like an utterly classless colossal douche.

Plus seriously, what the fark is up with these pants?

I think it is possible that the visit to the museum struck a chord with Bieber. No snark, his fan based is largely comprised of 13 to 15 year old girls. Even though the kid is 95% ego he was sad that the girl was (unsuccessfully) dodging the Nazi's at an age when she should have been enjoying being a teenager.

I know. He still won't sleep with me.

Anne learned more about the world in her teenage seclusion in the attic than Bieber learned in his teenage seclusion in stardom.

In a way, I feel for the kid.

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Bieber's a Jew, right?

Um... From Wikipedia (Mallette is Bieber's mom)

"While searching for videos of a different singer, Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def, clicked on one of Bieber's 2007 videos by accident. Impressed, Braun tracked down the theater Bieber was performing in, located Bieber's school, and finally contacted Mallette, who was reluctant because of Braun's Jewish religion; she remembered praying, "God, I gave him to you. You could send me a Christian man, a Christian label!... you don't want this Jewish kid to be Justin's man, do you? "

So if you're wondering why he went off on some fundie tangent on why abortion should be illegal because rape happens "for a reason" , now you know.

I actually liked his tweet.  Most tributes to Anne Frank mope about Nazism and suffering and all that.  Bieber avoids that and treats her like any boy would treat a girl: he hopes she would have liked him.

But the disturbing thing is he seems to be getting more stupid and annoying as he gets older. He wouldn't have said something that dumb at 16, and hopefully you're smarter at 19 than 16. When the reverse happens, that's a bad sign.

I'm not one of those people who thought he'd end up down and out and on drugs. I figured he'd make a zillion dollars, disappear like teen idols do, and live in luxury for the rest of his life. It's like he's trying to prove me wrong, by starting the downward spiral process over the last 6 months, and his Anne Frank comment just shows how he's drinking his own Kool-aid.

So you left the place and was moved to tears thinking about how awful it would have been for you.  He left, thinking how awful it was for her, an actual teenage girl in middle of his target demographic.  I don't think the trains of thoughts are really all that different, it's just your world that's entirely different.

The episode was a bit too graphic/sick for my taste, but the point about our society and the dark celebrity worship/sacrifice was poignant.

I wish we could just separate the artist from the person.
Like Micheal Jackson, when he was alive, I thought it was annoying how all people could talk about was his weird kid fetish.  I mean, okay, yes, he's weird... but I didn't hear about him because of his kid habits, but because of Thriller.  So his music is my focus, not his personal life.

I do not worship celebrities, so I do not care what they do in their private time.

Who wants to bet that Beiber's handlers dangled a HUGE donation check in front of the curators' faces to make them put out this statement?

2013-04-15 11:35:10 AM
I'm not really sure what the outrage is here.  It's not like he said, "I hate hitler for taking away a potential fan"...

Also, I find it coincidental that people are outraged by his comment.  I mean, many of those same people wish that Justin had be a Jew in Germany during the holocaust.

You know, the great tragedy of Anne Frank's story is you can read from her accounts of her life what a likable and luminously bright young woman she was, and would have been.

All I could think when I read the middle tweet was, "Why couldn't it have been you hauled off in a cattle car bound for the death camps?"
