Nice headline you got there.  It would be a shame if anyth...oh...I'm too late.

Saw the "42" movie Saturday night in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  Felt very real and authentic. Could feel the pain that Jackie went through with harassment by fans, managers (esp. that racist cracker from Phillies, Ben Chapman), being barred from hotels, restaurants, bathrooms and even airplanes. I would highly recommend it.

I've got a picture of me as a kid, holding out a red finger, as a buck naked Jackie Robinson plows the acre white ass of a menstruating Marlyn Monroe.

Probably worth some serious coin if I ever get around to organizing the attic and finding the damn thing.

Indeed.  For those wondering it said, "In honor of Jackie Robinson Day, meet the kid the famous Robinson photo."

Heard '42' is an awesome movie. Not just from a historical aspect but the acting and film making was superbly done. Anyone here seen it?

I like baseball. And I'm turning 41 on Saturday. So, I'm no spring chicken. But I've never seen this picture before. I also have nothing against race equality. Yet, here I am.

Baseball was integrated. Then it was segregated. Then it was reintegrated.

What should have happened is everyone responsible for segregating an integrated sport should have been forced to publicly apologize for their deeds. Including a baseball commissioner.

Likewise the US military, particularly the US Navy. At one point, it was racially integrated. Then it wasn't. Then it was. The fact that Truman reintegrated the US military isn't the point. Someone should go and strip any awards given to the military men who spent their careers segregating the US military.

The grammar in the article is just as bad, pretty sure subby was just sticking with the theme.

that's a hell of a cross indexing.  which military members are you referring to?  do you include woodrow wilson in that list?  Instead of demonizing them when they really weren't acting against social norms of the time, you should be speaking to the courage and merit of people like Eleanor Roosevelt and Ike or the contributions of those who rose above the racism like Dorie Miller.

I might have to check it out then.

Since we're making recommendations on Jackie Robinson materials, I would highly recommend this article on Jackie Robinson's court martial.  In 1944 Lt. Jackie Robinson was on a bus in Texas coming back to post from a physical at a military hospital.  The driver told Robinson to move to the back, he refused, the driver got angry and called the MP's.  Then more shiat went down and Robinson was arrested and court martialed.  Fortunately, his military lawyer took his job seriously and Robinson was acquited.

"I found Bobby Salzberg! He's next to me, in the bow tie!"

Things you'll never hear at a baseball game anymore.
