Seriously, THIS is something that people are outraged about?

Well yeah, most of his fans are deaf.

This whole thing is kind of dumb, but at least now the kind of people that think it's funny to slyly mention well-known historical figures in a blatantly wrong context can have a 1000+ post thread to wallow in their own cleverness.

Here, let me start...

Haha, I bet he thinks that uh Helen Keller can't hear him or see him because she's really deaf and blind and therefore can't hear or see very well. That's our Helen Keller!

Narcissitic twerp says something narcisstic. Film at 11.

What are the odds that a young teen girl would like this guy, anyway?

2013-04-15 09:19:20 AM
I live two blocks from the museum or so, so I'm really getting a kick etc...

No really, what I find most interesting about all this is the museum just posted his comments without thinking it was that big a deal, and then didn't get why so many people got upset.  I found this very Dutch of them.

I'm more just amazed that someone could be that conceited, though I guess it's not incredibly surprising.

No, you idiot.  You say something like "Yeah, Jesus was a cool guy.  I'd hope he woulda been my disciple."  That'd get you some press.

2013-04-15 09:21:16 AM
How stupid is this guy?

2013-04-15 09:22:11 AM
Honestly I don't think Anne Sullivan would have let little Anne listen to his music.  It would have been considered very risque back then.

Justin Bieber?
Is that a real name or a porn name?
It looks like it's had it's brains quite literally farked out, so I'm willing to assume it's a porn name and it's some sort of empty receptacle bottom for some sub-genre of homosexual pornography I'm not familiar with wherein large groups of bears repeatedly ravage a half-wit.

Turn the tables. I would rather see Beiber forced into hiding. You take it from there.

Whatever Beebs, Anne was always more of a goth chick anyway with her moping about in the attic and never coming out in the sun.

Jeez, Otto, first you leave out all the dirty bits of your daughter's diary, then you have to pee on this thread.  Man alive.

so, bieber continues to prove how dumb he is. not news. he does, sadly, have a bit of a valid point. anne frank was, as many young folks are, a celeb worshipper. the house/museum shows this...she read the celeb mags and put photos of her favorites on the walls. so, had bieber and frank been alive at the same time, there's a chance he would've gotten hit with a bomb.

If only there were a place he could hide for a while.

It was funny yesterday. Today it's stale, like an overused bunk sock. So here's something much more interesting from the Netherlands.

Eh. Narcissistic? Definitely. Tone-deaf? Absolutely (and ironically). Totally the wrong takeaway from the museum? Yup.

Was it his only takeaway, or is that one line from a 45-minute interview taking all the ink? If the former, that's dumb. If the latter, was the weekend really that slow, newswise?

// haven't seen the interview
// after visiting the museum, I took a short walk (to "clear my head"), then hit a coffee shop before heading back to the airport (/CSB)

He's barely an adult.  He hasn't had much of a normal life thus far, so I'm willing to give him a pass on this one.  Most guys his age aren't going to have a very polished world view, especially a guy who's been isolated from reality since he was a kid.

Hopefully what he'll take away from the experience is that here was this 12-year-old girl hiding with her family just to stay alive, who was ultimately arrested and taken to a death camp for being the "wrong" religion.  At 12 years old, J.B. was on the Disney Express Train to Wealth and Fame.   Life has a funny way of being unfair, and he came out on the winning side of Life's Lotto.   Maybe the experience did actually hit him more than we know, maybe not.

I'd still much rather shake my tiny, impotent Internet fists at politicians, televangelists and CEO's who know goddamn well when they are misbehaving and/or fleecing the masses than minor social mis-steps of some kid.

//been to the Anne Frank house, myself.   Didn't write anything in the guest book.  But I think I did write something in a guest book at a WWI battlefield monument to Australian soldiers in France in 1997, if the paparazzi is interested...  :oD

It was a stupid and narcissitic  comment to say the least but not really "offensive".

I'm giving Beibs a pass on this one too.  I remember how irreverent I was at that age.  Had it been me in his situation, I probably would have said something along the lines of, "Ann Frank was pretty hot, I would have l loved to nail her."

I'm not a fan of his but why is it offensive to think she might have been a fan of his?

Yes, he did make it about "him" but wasn't he basically saying "This poor girl, were it a different time, she would have been a happy normal teenage girl who would like pop music"

At face value it seems douchey to say, but upon reflection, I'll give him a pass here

Helen Keller on a Space Pirate Ship on the search for more bacon would probably be a space ninja zombie Belieber if she wasn't space deaf and space blind.

Barely or not, he's still an adult. Don't give him a pass. Giving him a pass makes you an enabler.

What kind of person goes to the Anne Frank house and feels "inspired"? Heinrich Himmler, maybe?

A smart PR manager would have kept this ignorant moron away from such a sensitive place, for reasons that are now all too obvious.

This is true. From what I've heard, even God listens to Slayer.
