Good greif. Everyday society makes me just a little more glad that one day life will end.
people should spend more time worrying about themselves and far less time trying to be offended all the time.

god forbid someone do something without everyone elses approval

However, the state Tax Commission wants him to change his custom license plate because people have been complaining about the implied vulgarity.

You know, if he's been through open-up-the-skull brain surgery and has been faced with post-surgery treatment like it would appear, I'm willing to give him a pass on this one, even if the "F" isn't for fight.

Have him get a note from the brain surgeon saying that yes, he was indeed operated on and for cancer, present it to the motor vehicles people like how one presents one's out-from-work note to one's employer, and call it a done deal.

Oh look, my local news station.

The amount of God plates here in Indiana offend me. You don't see me making the news.

I wouldn't mind so much if they could all drive more coherently as a group. It must be their "Jesus is my co-pilot" affecting their lack of driving skills.

I'd be interested in knowing which doctors will be ticked off that a cancer cure puts them out of a job, so I can find other doctors.

I want to know, with the "F" either way, who is exactly hating this as saying no, is like cheering on cancer.

in 2009 Mrs Bunny and I both underwent cancer surgery and chemotherapy, when our daughter was 3 and our son was 6, I lost my grandmother and a friend of 18 years to cancer, and my father was diagnosed. I support giving the man the long-form license plate.

While it's absolutely ridiculous that he would be forced to change the plate, there is no way that he intended the F to stand for "fight."

Where did this notion come from?  That just because you don't like something you therefore have the right not to see or hear it.  Fine, you're offended.  You're welcome to make that point.  But after that, you're done.  The rest of us are under no obligation to care that you care.

Yeah, this is how I feel about it.  This damages no one, and once I've said my piece the person who has offended me can either apologize, change what they did, or tell me to get knotted.  I do not have th right to  make them do anything.

So the people opposing his license plate have put themselves in the awkward position of defending cancer. Its amazing what some busy bodies will do to keep themselves as the center of attention.

2013-04-15 01:08:50 AM
Withhold his treatments until he decides to comply. He wants to live in this world so bad, he can start by following its rules. I guess next he'll decide that he shouldn't have to pay taxes or have his car inspected annually because he's sick. There's a lot of sick people, buttercup. You ain't special.

/amidoinitrite?

2013-04-15 01:16:36 AM
Really? We're getting offended by implied vulgarity? If your child is offended by this, you have a lot more things to worry about.

2013-04-15 01:17:38 AM
So, assuming the F stood for Cancer and he censored himself with just the F, the people who are offended are offended by the self censoring, so in their view point, it doesn't matter if you actually say the F word or just say F, they still get offended.  And for those who don't like the plate because it implies the F word, it only implies it if you let it imply the F word.

When I was in college I took this course, I forgot what it was actually titled, but it was musical influences of the past and present focusing on Tinpan Alley, the blues and country music.  The professor one day pointed to the song "She's a Big Bad Mamma Jamma" and said that for years a college (not the one I attended) played that for all of it's games.  Then one day someone said "That song is offensive!" and that school could no longer play that song.  He said that there is this unspoken rule: Anything is okay until someone finds some reason to find it offensive.  They don't even have to be the ones offended by it, just as long as they can point out that it is offensive to some group.  Same goes for a grocery store that in the aisle that sold the taco stuff, and enchallattas.  The store labeled that section "Hispanic Foods".  For years no one complained.  Then some white suburban soccer mom thought that the term Hispanic was offensive and aisle was changed to something else.  The guy who told me was my Hispanic co-worker who was told by the store manager of that grocery store that identifying himself as a Hispanic was racist (according to that soccer mom who complained).

I have an ex girlfriend who is currently going though all that. Her and her husband (we dated over ten years ago, nothing weird here) after years of trying just had a baby girl two years ago. I say if the licence plate could fit the entirety of F Cancer in all of it's profane glory, then she should be able to get it. Seriously fark cancer.
