God I watched that movie so many times as a kid.  Still makes me chuckle to this day.

And yes, most comedies fall apart the moment you apply real world probability, physics, or biology to the situations depicted therein.  I have to admit though that Weekend at Bernie's does so more spectacularly than most.

...alright now I have to go find a copy of that damn movie.  I only have it on VHS and I am NOT hooking the VCR up to the TV again this week.

Bedstead Polisher: I wanna watch movies with THAT guy.

I've watched movies with guys like that. It was a double date. I might have felt differently if it was a movie any of us liked, but it was Dante's Peak and the conversation following the movie was only funnier because he was studying volcanos professionally and I was studying local bats for fun. Both were involved. One was a surprise. *My* date had no problem with my interest showing up out of nowhere (my ears are shiat, hence the interest). So he got latched on to a lot that night.

They have two kids now. My date from that night is still asleep upstairs.

When I saw "Scientific American" and "Lomax" I thought this had something to do with folklore and musicology.

Too much education can be a handicap sometimes.  *sigh*

So this culminate in a wacky, screwball high-speed car chase in SF?

This, and the fact that I watched it first, is why I liked the sequel but won't even finish the first one.  Nearly any scientific problem with the utterly terrible nonsense that were both of those movies is overcome in the second with, "bastardized voodoo magic."

And while it's probably offensive to actual practitioners, suck it up biatches, my faith (or lack thereof) gets shiat on more than the Loa.

what? it was a MOVIE. NO WONDER PEOPLE HATE SCIENTISTS WHEN THEY WRITE CRAP LIKE THIS.
