About time, I hate those farkers who clog the left lane and refuse to move.

2013-04-13 06:02:24 PM
I believe there is already such a law in MA. Rarely enforced, but it exists.

As long as I am passing someone, I can hang out there, don't flick your damn lights at me. I see you.

2013-04-13 06:09:00 PM
There's a law like that in Colorado.

If it has ever ever been enforced I would be seriously surprised.

headline is redundant. The Dutch *are* aresholes on bicycles who ride in packs.

Tailgate me in the left lane, go ahead

I will slow down to the speed limit, or less.

That's the rule road. Deal with it.

Is this really a thing? What's wrong with an insurance card?

You try enforcing against someone blocking the left lane or blocking a single lane.
Either fight through a long line off traffic from behind or do a u-turn and fight traffic.

/also known as impeding traffic flow.
//F*ck you for saying you were doing the speed limit.
///F*ck you for taking the law into your own hands by impeding traffic flow to make people do the speed limit.

//Bicyclists are to ride single file closest to the edge of the paved lane/shoulder to the right.

Here in CA, the fwy. signs read "slower traffic to stay in right lane" (or something like that).  There is no "unless you're doing the speed limit" clause.  Get the eff over.

I was going to post "in before the passive aggressive douche who brags about refusing to yield the passing lane to faster traffic" but I'm too late.

Da hell. That better not become common, because I have no intention of handing that over for a traffic stop. You'll be happy with the card or you'll talk to my lawyer, patrol guy. Not that there's anything really interesting on my phone anyway, but that's not the point.

It surely is.  Some companies are now providing digital insurance cards that require you to hand your phone to the officer that just pulled you over.  Can't imagine why someone thought that was a good idea.

It's not about you being in the way. If someone is going faster than you they will try to pass on the right, running a bigger risk of causing an accident. It's not a 'rule (of the) road' issue- it's a safety issue. If the dick behind you is in such a hurry just get out of the way. Not getting clipped by a speeding asshole is more important than proving some stupid point about the rules.

Yup. Jesus Christ folk, it's a safety issue. You are making the roads far less safe for you and everybody else by forcing people to dodge around you. You want to do the speed limit? Whatever. But get in the right lane.

I suspect the cops have been offered phones in lieu of cards by idiots who've failed to carry cards.  Now the cops may be asking for phones in hope of dredging up something more interesting.  This law puts a stop to it.

It's already a ticketable offense here in PA, and still people putt along in the passing lane at 90 MPH on the PA turnpike.

If you're not going to overtake someone, for God's sake get into the damned right hand lane.

The law gets passed and I would have no problem calling the police to report a problem driver congesting traffic. When he gets pulled over he can explain to the real traffic cop why he thought it necessary to play traffic cop himself.

Because the right lane is where the slower traffic belongs, traffic that definitely shouldn't be overtaking you and where I suspect most people don't check as carefully and where people dodge if something happens in front of you because no one should be coming up from behind you

Drive I70 westbound into Indianapolis from the state line and ask me that again. There are so many goddamn semis on that road that it really is hazardous; I was driving that way at 8 pm on a Wednesday and it was like truck rush hour. Since IN doesn't appear to have a 'stay right except to pass' law, trucks pull in and out all the time on both sides and make it even more dangerous.

Yeah that's why old folks should have refresher courses in basic driving. There are more blind spots on the right, meaning that the driver you are passing there may not see you. The right lane is not for passing so you are more likely to encounter slower traffic or drivers merging from the outside lane not expecting you to be passing on the left. That's why every driving school, drivers ed class and drivers license booklet tells you to pass there. Refreshed?

Man, felt like running over a few bikers on the way into work today.

Work outside of Houston.  A desc of the road to work, Katy-Hockley Cuttoff Road:
Rural road
Straight as an arrow
No shoulder
3-4' drop off drainage ditch on either side of road
45 mph speed limit, but people tend to go 60-65
There's a lot of insane/assholish drivers who will pass like madmen.
3 mines on the road/just off it, a few oil wells and other industrial sites, 2 concrete plants (ie, there's a bit of commercial traffic)
High amount of traffic from people cutting between the I-10 and 290.

In short, this is NOT a safe road to ride bikes on.  And every weekend there's a few bike riders there, farking up traffic and risking their and everyones lives.  Yes yes, I know, share the road and all that.  But I can't stress enough how dangerous this road is for recreational bike riding.

Not NY, for one. Plus in my town, you really can't get away with it anyway since people actually DO walk on them all the time.
