No Marathon bars? fail.

Most of those were incredibly gross. Bonkers were awesome.

I've never been a gum chewer, but the end of PB Max was a sad time.

2013-04-13 12:05:41 PM
I forgot about Bonkers.  Now I do miss those.

/way way too much gum on that list

Gatorgum . I forgot about Gatorgum...and Summit.

In addition for failing to mention Marathon's (more of a 70's thing)

They still sell Whatchamacallits. And Zeros. Once in awhile I'll get a hankering for one or the other.

Great, now I want a Bar None and I can't have one.  I had forgotten about those.

There are reports that they are sold in Mexico.

Yeah, you can still buy a Whatchamacallit, but the last few I've had have been disgustingly stale. I think they just made too many of them in the 80s and have been pulling from the same inventory.

I ate a jumbo nerd once. But it was at a purple passion party, and I woke up in another state. So I'm not really sure she counts

Also when they were initially released they were just the chocolate and peanutbutter and crispy stuff, and then somebody had to go and add caramel to it.  The caramel ruins it.

Gator Gum was pretty good. I've never heard of most of the others.

2013-04-13 01:08:10 PM
I miss the Milkshake candy bars.

2013-04-13 01:12:02 PM
I think all of the Ferrara Pan candies are still being made.

I have a few Chew-Bops "album covers".  I used some of them as cassette inserts too.

2013-04-13 01:19:34 PM
A 90s one, but does anyone remember the Desert Storm bar from Hershey's? I got to be a part of the taste test for it and loved that thing. It was a limited run back then.

The Alpine White candy bar had a commercial with a song and innocuous lyrics, all proclaiming how wonderful the white chocolate was.  I saw Faith No More in concert, they did the song with the same lyrics, but a totally different take on it.  Made the commercial out to be a porn soundtrack.

That was hilarious, I'd love to see a video of it.

Googled Faith No More Alpine White, youtube delivers.  Some memories should be left alone, they don't stand up to close inspection :(

They are missing Zotz. And no, the "zotz" hard candies they sell today aren't the same. You used to be able to buy a foil bad of Zotz, that were just the foamy sour part. No candy shell. Just little mishaped white foamy nuggets of sour bliss.

Gumpus: No Marathon bars? fail.

Those are from the 1970s. I also remember eating Cherry Chan (not Clan) candy during that decade, and it had Charlie Chan on the wrapper.

summit and pb maxx were awesome

Yup. They consolidated all their goofy names under the *.head naming scheme instead.

Cherry Chan/Clan: Cherryhead
Johnny Apple Treats: Applehead
Alexander the Grape: Grapehead

... etc.

2013-04-13 03:22:11 PM
PB Max.  I do miss those.

2013-04-13 03:31:16 PM
The ugly truth is that most of that candy was garbage and it's only nostalgia that makes you miss it in any way.

But I'd still chew the hell out of some Gatorgum.

2013-04-13 03:50:21 PM
Tidal wave and Dino Sours were the shiat.

Nestle's 'White Chocolate with Almonds' is gone?

Hell I can't find Nestle's MILK CHOCOLATE any more - the with the red and white wrapper and the bar wrapped in aluminum foil.

2013-04-13 04:34:34 PM
PB max was terribly popular in our middle school (in the 1990's), the school store could never keep them in stock.

I has a sad about this one.  My personal favorite wasn't on the list though: Betcha' Life.  GIS doesn't even turn up anything useful.

Stories like this one always make me wonder:

Do the Japanese eat Atomic Fireball candy?

"This candy mocks the memory of my dead ancestors...but, it is sooo deeelicious!"

2013-04-13 05:23:10 PM
I, too, away liked Gatorgum, but I have also always really loved the taste of Gatorade.

The bubbalicous chocolate mint was my favorite in 1987 when i was in Hawaii for the summer. God i Miss that stuff.

Yep! I thing the same people who made the Boston baked beans and lemon heads made those.

Whatchamacallits are still around.

I also appreciate the Garfield gum -- Grape AND Fruit flavors...

Milk Shake candy bars were around long before the 80s.
/misses them too

Kurmudgeon: Milk Shake candy bars were around long before the 80s.

True, but they went off the market in the 1980s. Used to buy them at either Woolworth's or Newberry's as they seemed to be the only stores that sold them in our area.

2013-04-13 10:16:10 PM
Cherry Cola Bubbalicious was awesome.

2013-04-13 10:46:46 PM
I miss the Bar None.

And they don't make Cherry Clan anymore???  Yes, they do

God that stuff was disgusting. Chocolate mint isn't one of those flavors you want to chew on for any length of time. YUK YUK YUK.

/Dr. Pepper gum

Ugh, I can still taste half of these just from the images. I'm getting a toothache.

Bathia_Mapes: True, but they went off the market in the 1980s.

Yeah, they just kind of disappeared on me. Used to get them frozen at the concessions at our swimming pool.
I miss those and the Bar None posted up thread as well.
If they ever reissue those, even seasonally, and imported Cadbury Milk Flake, I'd be a happy monkey!

2013-04-14 02:29:20 AM
I remember the Orange Juice bubble gum and vaguely believe that I thought it was obnoxiously sweet and tart even at age 8.

↗whar Reggie Bar?

Fark cookies and cream, bring back Alpine White.

/forgot about those
//extra score when you could find them KingSize
