Wow, the quality of that was atrocious.

Eddie being way out of his league.  Unfortunately Buckethead was probably too young at that point...

I turned it off before the halfway mark. I guess I'm a bad person.

I'm hoping several sound techs were fired soon after that.

According to DLR, Eddies ALWAYS unplugged and that's a problem.

goddamn that was hilarious.

MJ is such a sad story. Born as a young black boy, died as an elderly white woman.

Must have been recorded with one of those brick phones.

That B&W Abbott and Costello from 75 years ago was better quality. VHS ruined us for so long.

I just remember how racist Foxboro wouldn't grant a permit for this show and I laughed....

Yep, but it all fairness it did sound better in person. I saw the Victory tour shows 3 times that year. The Bad tour in '88 was even better.

That was awesome. I would love to go to get that VHS tape and re-digitize it at a much higher bitrate. I know it's only 240 lines, but they could be MUCH clearer if the recorder spent a little time.

why are there like, 95 guitarists onstage?
2013-04-14 02:15:58 AM
Wow.  That whole performance was a clusterfark of the third order.  If I was Eddie Van Halen, or hell, anyone else on that stage, I'd still be embarassed about it today.

he probably only played one show.

But some people Believe it only takes one Great Show to change the world. And not just in real indi rock. One of of the Insane Miracles of live Musicals Theater is its ability to clearly tell complex stories to simple people. They are so easy to understand they are written like talking to a four year old. Or so I have heard.

And that transformation can happen anywhere. Even if you are not a professional musician at all. Perhaps somewhere there is an overweight female basement dweller who works as a Clerk in a Tesscos and always dreamed of singing on a big stage in front of a cheering crowd that only about 53% are in similar social and financial circumstances as she was. A girl who only feels strong and secure on the Internet. Or somthing like that.

Perhaps her big break comes when she leaves the basement, slips some long white gloves over her Cheeto stained fingers and finally gets the courage to sing in a very cookie- cutter, corporate entertainment. She could even say somthing about how she wasn't supposed to be there that day.

Anything can happen if you Believe it.

They called out other members for partial tour participation, why not him?

The magic starts at :01, Subby, or whenever the first note of a Michael song is audible.
2013-04-15 02:23:32 AM
For all the people who think this sucked. I think it's a lot more authentic then all the backing track stuff they do nowadays. Better to hear someone sing out of tune, then to hear fake crap with lip synching.

Perhaps The mouse, Computer and the Internet DSLs have killed creativity forever? Access to too much information allows an obsessive level of detail. but the music and art is so easy to find so has everything lost any real meaning? Or, does it go the way of quantum stuff and allow even greater creativity through access and allow the creation of new, very unique, derivative art forms through that access?

Everyone has becomes pointlessly pedantic like some annoying sort of a branch of physics which deals with physical phenomena at microscopic scale's.

And half the time there wrong anyway.

I Believe Guitar hero proved talent is entirely meaningless. Attitude is all that matters now. Air guitar is fine for the vast majority of Americains. That and the artwork painted on your guitar.

Plug enough wires and boxes into it, stick on some electrical tape and you could play an old wood stick right next to  Bruce Watson on and the real 1914 vintage  Les Pauland no one ever know the difference in the sound or which half assed country you really came from. As long as you were all wearing stupid costumes, "played" really loud and the DAT tape never skipped.
