Kudos for the right idea, -1 for the delivery.

That video just seems...juvenile. Melodramatic. It's hard to take your movement seriously when you use a front that looks like a bad CGI cut-scene from a video game circa 2005.

/although I'll admit: if it actually gets something done in this case, I'll happily eat crow and take back what I just said

I don't know, but this seems like worthy of investigation:
FTA:
Witness testimony - If nothing else, it seems that dozens of teens and adults heard the rapists at least brag about taking part in the Rehtaeh Parsons gang rape.EXIF data - since a photo of Rehtaeh's rape was reportedly circulated among hundreds of students, Anonymous wonders if authorities even bothered to check. The school did nothing - they said they didn't know, but if child pornography is going viral in your hallways, shouldn't you know?

Dozens of e-mails were sent to us by kids and adults alike, most of whom had personal relationships with the rapists. Many recalled confessions made by these boys blatantly in public where they detailed the rape of an inebriated 15-year-old girl. Recent statements by police and prosecutors that there simply wasn't enough evidence to make a single arrest should be viewed solely as an admission of incompetence on their part. This wasn't "he said, she said." He said he did it and he said it to everyone while showing them a photo of him doing it.

No evidence, my ass.

There is some serious danger of mob justice here. The police need to act if only to prevent that.

They probably bragged about gang banging her. I doubt they refered to it as rape. Anonymous isn't helping at all.

Whatever. I support a "God Bless America" or "Falling Down" types of justice these days.

Maybe, he's right, but it's highly doubtful.

Johnny's claim presumes the ability of the girl to give consent.  People who are under the age of majority cannot, legally, give consent - the age of majority in Nova Scotia is 19. People who are intoxicated cannot, legally, give consent. He also presumes that the underage male involved is allowed to take and pass around a photo of the two of them having sexual relations, even though it is illegal for anyone to create and/or distribute sexually explicit images of underage individuals.

Johnny also dismisses the fact that several males have been accused and several males (presumably the same several, but that has yet to be released to the public) also bragged about being involved. Which would definitely torpedo his claim that she had sex with "a dude" if it turned out to be true.

Finding the kids wasn't the problem. Evidence for conviction was the problem.

What is sounds like is people have come forward BECAUSE SHE KILLED HERSELF. They were willing to talk to anonymous because she's dead. Before she was just some crazy girl who liked to party and the RCMP were big scary men with guns and red coats.

Terrible case.

Exactly.  Someone's conscience awoke. The RCMP has said that its new info did not come from any "online source."  Some witness contacted them.

A girl with a history of bad judgement has sex with a guy regrets it then screams rape. Hopefully no one harms the boys that she claimed did it

I was thinking of the same.  You don't really know if a rape occurred...  What if it didn't and they release the names of these boys?

They accessed information that was already know to the police, and are threatening to let loose information that might not be true, that is all.  Unfortunately by writing and printing this article, it could possibly cause some serious unfounded repercussions if they are not guilty.

Especially when its an emotionally charged issue and enough tards get Silicosis of the Minge.

Never try to be a voice of reason or objectivity; never point out that someones rage or disgust might be inappropriate given the available information. You will become a scapegoat once people are emotionally invested in narrative.

I've never met a fifteen year old girl who would be consent to be gang banged by a group of guys, but maybe that says more about the sort of people I hang out with. Does this even happen outside of porn and male fantasies? Older more jaded women, maybe, but at fifteen I figure the unlikely tag is needed.

Popcorn Johnny's reasoning seems to be that since she was unconscious, she was fair game, making it okay if she was raped.

DeathByGeekSquad: I wonder if you said the same thing when those vicious lacrosse boys raped that dancer near Duke...

Not sure if serious idiot trying to make irrelevant case comparisons, or troll trying to get emotional rise.

At any rate, I'll assume the former. Would you like to tell the rest of the class how the situations are similar? I don't seem to recall any prosocutorial qualms about railroading the Duke team, despite a large amount of evidence that the situation was at best a fabrication. On the other hand, there is plenty of evidence here that at least one person has confessed to raping an unconscious girl, and at the very least, the production of child pornography and it's circulation took place.

But yeah. You go ahead and white knight these guys.

Even if it was "consentual" (Age of consent in Canada is 16, which would have made the act aggrevated statutory rape), what was produced was the very legal definition of child pornography with intent to distribute.
