A woman in the parking lot told me running against Bachmann causes mental retardation

There's got to be a point where people just can't bring themselves to vote for that lunatic again.

Kibbler: A woman in the parking lot told me running against Bachmann causes mental retardation

...and costs $200,000,000 a day.

I'm not sure how it's possible to quantify her.  Other than her record in Congress, which is pretty much proposing things that fail.

2013-04-12 03:26:22 PM
Which would be another Pyrrhic victory for Republicans.  She more she's in the limelight the more damaging she is to the GOP.

2013-04-12 03:26:47 PM
I would not go 0 for 2 with her but I'd do here where she goes number 2

2013-04-12 03:27:24 PM
It's all about that "1" in front of the dash, subby.  It doesn't matter who gets it, as long as we eventually kick this embarrassment to our species to the curb.

Yes there is: if she says at least one thing sane, rational and fully for the good of the whole country.

Her base would drop her in an instant.

All she needs to do is:
 - Love 'Merca
 - Hate gays, communists, socialists, liberals and muslin
 - Jesus!
and, she's got 35% of the vote.  Add gun-grabbing UN and nObama and she's almost there.

Here's the thing.  Ousting Bachmann from public office would be a wonderful thing.  But don't for a minute think that this means the end of her.  Fox News has to be salivating  at the idea of bringing her on board.  Her brand of crazy is like catnip to the teahaddists.

He nearly beat her in a district which was gerrymandered in such a way as to guarantee her reelection. And she (and Super-PACs supporting her) outspent him by an amount several orders of magnitude larger than the margin of victory.

And, as you said, she's even crazier now.

The DNC pretty much ignored that race thinking the district was too gerrymandered to win.  Since she won by only under 5000 votes, I suspect we'll be seeing DNC money flowing into that district.

Well, she would able to spend more time with her gay husband.

"I'm not interested in celebrity, only in solutions."

"receiving his marching orders from the Pelosi-Obama campaign"

"The last thing Minnesota families need in Congress is another liberal politician rubber-stamping the Obama-Pelosi agenda of higher taxes and runaway government spending."

Nonetheless, Bachmann's first campaign video makes it clear she plans to tie Graves to Obama, a target better suited to her image as a fierce critic of White House policies on health care and the economy.

As long folks vote based on this shiat (as opposed to actual policies and records) there really is no hope.

With so little required for a Republican to win there, there must be thousands of other developmentally challenged Americans in that State who also hate all the right things and feel that Bachman is robbing them of their own birth right by not letting them run for that office instead.  Shouldn't the GOP be cycling through more idiots to keep things fresh.

True. She eked it out by about a point, give or take.

I hope he destroys her this time.

2012 was her worst showing yet.  2006: +8pts (with I's taking 7.8), 2008: +3pts (I's taking 10), 2010: +12.7pts (I's taking 7.6).  The last race was close enough that it couldn't be called until Wed morning. Bachmann won 50.59 percent of the vote to Graves' 49.41 percent, while losing in 2 of the 3 counties in her district. I'm not sure 2014 is the year to take her down, as Republicans typically do better in off-year elections, but definitely in 2016 she's in trouble, especially if there are no independent candidates.

She has other plans for 2016.

2013-04-12 04:07:52 PM
She's an incumbent with lots of out of state money and a gerrymandered district. Running against someone like that in modern politics is basically a suicide mission. Why not send in the same guy? If he loses it doesn't hurt any new candidates and probably doesn't hurt him much. Any dirt that could come up would have come up last time. If he wins it's a major victory. It's pretty much win-win.

Very good points.  On the other hand, the longer Tea Party candidates are in office, the more people see and hear them.  And the more they see and hear them, the less they like them.  That just could be enough.
But, like you say, off-year, though, and she's not Obama, so...  Close call.

2014 is election year for Dem Sen Franken and Dem Gov Dayton.  Graves has a lot of coat tails to ride when Dems go all-out for them.

The district has been re-mandered a bit.  It might help Graves.  Bachmann doesn't even live in the district any more, if that makes any diff.

I'm quite surprised that she spelled it correctly.

It amuses me that the Weeners from the Bachmann campaign is to attack Obama and Pelosi.

I don't know what scares me more. The fact that this woman holds office, or that there's a group of voters who thinks that putting her there is a good thing.

That should be on a bumper sticker.

Bachmann's attack add was lacking in originality.  What she should have done was include that the Pelosi-Obama Liberal Agenda (patent pending) also incorporates being double penetrated by gay men while being force fed aborted fetuses.

2013-04-12 04:59:25 PM
Good. Constituents stupid enough to vote that woman into office twice need name recognition, because they certainly aren't making bank on their cognitive functions - instead of throwing a new Democrat at them, a name they're familiar with (and which almost beat her) has a better chance of ousting her.

But, I'm not holding out much hope. Again, the folks in that district voted her into office as their best option - I have no sympathy for them, as they're getting what they wanted. If they had two working neurons to rub together, collectively, Graves would've been in office already. They don't, so they can soak in the stupidity.

And that year he barely even got any funding.  IIRC, she would spent him at something like 30 to 1.  If the DNC had bothered to throw him some money they would have picked the seat up.

I put up one post on her FB page indicating that Graves might be a good chance to get Minnesota some Christian representation, since he had the courage to support marriage equality when Mrs. Bachmann failed, but that whole page is so saturated with idiots that it would be exhausting to troll every post like I did with NOM and AFA.

They need to bring back El Tinklenberg to run against her. He's a Jewish luchador that smashes panes of glass over peoples' heads. He can't possibly lose this time.
