Garcia, Flutie- what other short QBs were told they couldn't do it in the NFL and then did it anyways? I enjoyed watching both of them play.

Jeff Garcia > Tim Tebow

Well, he's right. The only thing Tebow brings to a team is a ton of distraction and he's not worth the hassle.

/Bring on all the people who love to white knight Tebow

Clearly, the Jets just don't know how to use him. You know what Tebow is? A winner. Pure and simple.

Get this strategy bullshiat out of here. Bring in Tebow, and you call "the win" play. Over and over. What's "the win" play you ask? It's where the other 10 teammates just get out of his way and he wins up, down, and all over the field for his team.

Meh, let's just threadjack; do you really believe Liverpool has a shot at Christian Eriksen this summer? He's pretty much on everyone's wishlist but I keep seeing his name floating around on Twitter as a real LFC possibility.

The reason Tebow is such a distraction is because he goes to church with someone high up at ESPN. and by 'goes to church' I mean 'has gay sex'.

The NFL Network had a top ten show (full disclosure: I love watching the shows) devoted to why people should love Tim Tebow. No lie.

/Didn't watch it, but now you know that NFL Films has a hard-on for Tebow

2013-04-12 03:33:22 PM
Garcia's right, but not in the inflammatory way people seem to be thinking of. The Jets don't seriously consider Tebow a legit QB; if that's the case, why do you have him on the team? Dump him off on the side of the road; he's a distraction at this point, and he's not (in the Jets' minds) the solution. Why is he still on the team?

Didn't know that this was "blasting" Tebow:

"If there's a place for Tim that gives him a chance to be a contributor in an offense with another team, let him go be that guy."

If he's not going to get the nod last year, he's not going to get the nod any year with the Jets.

Let's be careful here.  Tebow is a very holy man, and well, Garcia lacks morals and on multiple occasion has enjoyed the company of some very dirty women.  And by "dirty" I mean "High five, Jeff."

Yeah, Garcia had this weird thing called reading the defense.  You can argue that he was a system quarterback, but the West Coast is a viable system in the NFL; Tebowball is entirely unsustainable, and disastrous against defenses with sufficient preparation.

I assumed you meant butt fumble is evidence that Sanchez is so terrible that you can't have him on your team and have no choice other than to keep Tebow on your roster until you completely tank the 2013-2014 season, fire the coach, and draft your next QB of the future.

In all seriousness, that team wasn't going to sustain itself.  The one-two punch of the ownership crisis finally filtered down to the personnel level, and when they canned Mariucci in favor of Dennis Erickson everyone outside the organization knew that team was going to self-destruct.

That really is hilarious.  He was about as mobile as an Elway in the late 80s, but he wasn't a "running QB" like Steve Young early in his career.  And he wasn't exactly running when he led the Eagles on that late-season tear in 2006.

I'm gonna chalk that one up to low-grade troll bait.

Still can't feel sorry for Tebow, sorry. He made his own bed. He could have been traded to J'ville, where he likely wouldn't have produced much more, but where he is greatly appreciated for other accomplishments. Instead, he chose the mess that is the Jets for the NY media exposure for his other causes. Pride seems to be the sin evangelicals have the most difficulty dealing with.

It worked enough to go 8-6 in Denver plus one playoff win. He ain't Pro Bowl worthy by any stretch, but if throwing like a pregnant cow somehow manages to land a playoff win, well, then, gimme the pregnant cow.

Or actually not, because I have Aaron Rodgers, but the pregnant cow can work somewhere if he can give you a record over .500.

Well, he needed to be traded because the Broncos no longer needed his services. His choices were obviously limited to the teams interested in him when the trade went down. It came down to J'ville and the Jets. The Broncos actually took slightly less compensation (lower 4th) to trade him to the Jets because that was his choice. Tebow, or his "team", chose NY over J'ville. Hint, it was not a 'football' decision.

It is working out the way you would expect.

And every Bronco fan I know knew it was completely unsustainable. You can't suck for 3 quarters and then pull 4 TDs out of your ass to win the game every time. It just can't be done in the NFL because the defenses will figure it out eventually.

They were happy to go to the playoffs, don't get me wrong. But they were happier when Peyton Manning came to town and Elway shipped Tebow away.

Heck in half the games it wasn't even a TD, it was some 50+ yard feild goal to tie/win.  And if it hadn't been for the Broncos D those go from being hail marys to garbage points.

Yeah that's the thing. QBs in the CFL are expected to throw 30+ times every game. 40-45 attempts happen all the time. If Tebow had to throw the ball 45 times he's get picked off 4 times minimum. There's no place for him in the CFL. The CFL isn't a farm league for the NFL though they do farm players in the sense that any player that plays well is looking to jump to the NFL and will get a chance to try out, but no team is going to sacrifice immediate success to develop a player as much as Tebow needs developing. You get 3 downs, Tebow scrambles for 4 on first down, throws a lame duck on second and that's it, punt time.

/ NFL is church on Sunday for me and I can't stand CFL football but Tebow isn't a good fit for the CFL

I was lucky enough to see them both play regularly, and to see Jeff learn under Fluties tutelage.  They're both great quarterbacks with uncanny skills when things break down.

falcon176: Jeff Garcia the sub par running QB that farkers white knighted for en masse because ESPN told them Terrell Owens was evil?

Sub-par running QB?  Only in the sense that he could accurately throw on the run at a time when that simply wasn't done in the NFL.  And in only his second CFL start after Flutie got injured, he threw for 546 yards and 6 touchdowns, both Calgary records.  Garcia is one of the most underrated QBs ever to play in the NFL.  All he ever did was win, wherever he went, and you slag him for it.

Actually, the bigger field helps both situations, particularly the field width.  There are lots of CFL QBs that scrambled a lot while they figured out the rest of their game- Damon Allen, Tracy Ham, even Warren Moon come to mind.

Garcia did lots of that in his first few starts as well.

/lots of love for Jeff

Also, let's admit that the Niner's O-line wasn't exactly the gold standard then that it pretty much is today. Overall the move was a bad one, but we just didn't have the means of protecting a QB with back issues at the time.
