Yeah at least it wasn't cold.  The Cubs game got canceled because it was going to be 38F and that's apparently unthinkable to play sports in.

the umpiring crew led by chief Tom Hallion were stuck in traffic on the way to the park and did not arrive in time

Stop this shiat. "Crew" a singular noun. Singular nouns singular verb time.

It's that creeping British collective singular crap.  I swear, between that and the football coaches destroying the subjunctive, normal American English won't exist in a few more years.

I thought it was going to be raining?

I'm over in La Crosse, WI and we had terrible rain all day/night. Just figured it was going to be headed down Chicago way. Did they really just cancel because of the cold?

For whatever reason, Wednesday night was a clusterfark all over the city.  It took me an hour an 15 minutes to go four miles...from Clarendon to Dupont Circle.  It's usually a 20 minute drive, even during rush hour.  I think all the lights in downtown were out of sync.

That's too bad, I think they're pretty good.

There was an earlier claim that it was due to subway issues. A large pro-immigration rally ended at 5:30 and filled the metro with out-of-towners whose English reading capabilities were at best varied. Since they contacted officials 40 minutes before the game (a mile or so from the stadium), I'm guessing that the metro wasn't the issue.

Also there was an Immigration Reform rally ending right at rush hour.  The entire downtown area along M street was gridlocked: Link

I somehow slipped down I street and got out pretty easily...but there seemed to be gridlock all around me.  It was nuts.

Iwas stuck on 14th Street Bridge for a while. Thought it was game traffic, but got off at Navy Yard and it was clear. Even GW heading south was bonkers. Crappy traffic, but a nice night.

I remember the days of needing 1+ hours to drive oh, 7 or 8 miles.  Dear DC traffic, I don't miss you at all:).
