Watched his show every week when I was a little kid. Then, Nana would get the remote and turn on Lawrence Welk. It was the sacrifice I made for her.  ;-)

Sad. RIP, Mr. Winters.

He was one of those who either really annoyed me (mostly in his later years) or made some of the funniest spots I can remember. I will definitely miss him, and I can't think of any current comedian whose material is as unique as his always was.

2013-04-12 02:17:57 PM
He's now under da big W.

2013-04-12 02:18:00 PM
Jonathan Winters, who was known for his improv work that inspired many a contemporary stand-up comic including Robin Williams

There is no amount of good he could have possibly brought to the world to make up for that.

2013-04-12 02:18:22 PM
To the egg, he returns.

2013-04-12 02:18:32 PM
Damn, He was my favorite Albino blues guitarist.

Now I'll have to step out with Joe Jackson  :(

Was just going to say this.  The gas station fight scene alone is worth the price of admission.

This makes me so sad,but he had a good run and generated a gazillion laughs for the world. Good on him.

2013-04-12 02:21:29 PM
He was a certified lunatic. He and my mother used to play together when they were around 5 years old. His cousin owned a department store (Clausson's) in Cincinnati where my grandfather worked

2013-04-12 02:21:29 PM
R.I.P. such a funny man; excellent timing

Jerry Lewis comes to mind.  Yeah it was a small part but hilarious.

Dude had a good run.

The scene where Winters, Arnold Stang and Marvin Kaplan completely dismantle a gas station during a brawl kills me.

And the look on his face when Phil Silvers drives off without Winters, leaving him stranded in the desert with a crumpled up bicycle was priceless.
