Since Fark canned the "Music" tab, you can't really do anything.

Dont go to concerts or bars with live bands with them?

Tell them they're foolish and wrong, and that they should cease their nonsense immediately.

subby down plays it ...but it is important. what they drink doesn't effect you, but listening to Gotye/Coldplay gets old super quick.

I don't know if it is a deal breaker...but common interests help for sure.

luckily we see eye to eye...mostly.

This has actually been somewhat of a problem for me recently but coming from the other end. I have very... particular tastes in music that most people hate. And while it was never a problem before considering I only dated people of similar tastes, the men I've found myself interested in in the past year or so are not fans and think I'm a complete freak when they look at my cd collection.

:/

Tell 'em to buy you whatever CDs (or whatever you kids are listening to these days) they feel would improve your taste. Any you don't like: eBay! (Possibly accomplished more smoothly after the breakup....)

I'll never understand why that 'one' song (which won't be mentioned) was ever popular. A whiny guy who got dumped by his slooty cheating g/f crying about it all over the place.

Ahh, indeed. My boss goes off on kicks where it's nothing but Of Monsters and Men / The MGMT / Foster the People / Black Kids and I get all stabby. I can deal with twee neo-folk pop in small doses, but after about two hours my left eye starts twitching.

Those of you complaining about Coldplay have never suffered through hours of Barry Manilow.  Girlfriend in high school had his Greatest Hits (gag) and would play it at the drop of a hat...any hat.

/It was a good thing I was consistently getting to third base with her...of course like Barry, getting blocked at home plate got really old after a while
//Broke up with her to go out with someone much younger who was into the B-52s, relationship sucked, music was excellent

Ah, the increasingly-puzzled/repulsed people get when looking through one's cd collection.  I've seen people have this time and time again over the years and it never ceases to get a chuckle out of me.

once some friend of mine threatened the lady that i ended up marrying because she didn't like portishead.  i liked portishead at the time, but i took her side.  have not spoken with that friend ever since, but he's probably a farker, so... sorry about that tomato that ended up on the ground, which may have been the real cause for the bruhaha.

/ i don't really care about portishead any more.  i guess the band was a little self-indulgent and melodramatic.  but, it certainly reminds me of that really rather comic tomato slice.  man, what a catalyst.

I was once looking through a friends 100 cd holder thing and it was like Clear Channel threw up. Seriously, everything was radio friendly trendy bullsh*t. The Man had to be so proud.

Seriously, Eve 6, 3 Doors Down, Matchbox 20, Counting Crows, Dishwalla. HE HAD DISHWALLA.
I bit my tongue because I am not a dick, but FFS.

Try dating a girl into Lady Gaga. She was a really down-to-earth, no-nonsense young woman... but the prospect of listening to music that makes me want to claw out my ears was a bit of a deal breaker.

Yes, they do. That one song, anyway. The rest of the album deserves to be reviled.

I'm sobbing in two threads now. This "quitting" thing may not last. And with every day I've stayed quoted I've wanted to sledgehammer the tv more.

No shiat. I cannot breathe today, everything feels swollen and just crummy and doing anything productive in the office today is pretty much out the window.
