Dreamworks produced "Shark Tale", a movie that makes watching your turds swirl down the drain seem like high entertainment.

The first Shrek is great. One of the best kids movies ever. Everything else from Dreamworks is a trainwreck

KFP was good, as was Shrek.

The rest?  Meh.

Kung Fu Panda 1 and w are awesome, in my opinion.

And I think that Shrek 2 is better than the first one.

Haven't seen Madagascar 2 and 3, but the first one was funny.

Overall, I like Pixar movies better, but Dreamworks has done some cool movies.

Dreamworks movies are a lot like SNL. They rely less on content and more on funny popculture references, and like SNL sometimes they're great, sometimes they're terrible, but either way in fifteen years nobody will remember what they were referencing.

No love for How To Tame Your Dragon?

And Dreamworks needs to be around so that Disney doesn't turn into 80's Disney again. Dreamworks is the Don Bluth of this generation... just successful enough to keep Disney working for it, with a few distinct gems in their library.

How To Train Your Dragon is one of my top 5 animated kid's movies. I think using a book as a source helped them a lot.

Also, Dreamworks is frequently awful at anthropomorphizing animals, which they managed to avoid with HtTYD.

Is not that there is no love for it, but I have yet to watch it. I keep hearing that it's fantastic, and I really hope to catch it soon.

Probably the reason why I loved Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 was because it was toned down on the pop culture references and it was more about taking archetypes and tropes from the wuxia films and toy with them.

100% agree.  Not to mention Megamind.  As soon as my nephew is old enough to watch a real movie, those are the two I'm watching with him.  Pixar is overly saccharine and cutesy, all the time, not that they haven't made some great movies.  DreamWorks frequently misses the mark, but when they hit it, they really hit it.

Here's an idea:

Dreamworks, plus Bethesda, making an animated movie of Fallout. And, you have the fallout 1 plot.

Pixar doing Fallout. Please.

Otherwise it's all going to be fart jokes, boogers, and idiotic pop culture references that would never belong in Fallout.

This is why I included Bethesda in the mix.

The only problem with "How to Train Your Dragon" is they oddly forgot to put the Pixar logo on the beginning. It is the high point of Dreamworks Animation (not financially, sadly) and is easily better than half the Pixar films.

And i really like me some Pixar films.

Don't "hope to catch it." Buy it.

Dreamworks has a MUCH nicer conference room than either Pixar or Disney. So there is that. Which is nice.

No love for Antz?  At all?  Really?

I thought that was actually a pretty good one, more sophisticated than A Bug's Life, anyway, and I like both movies.

I wasn't sure since it has been a while since I watched that. Also, I just skimmed around looking for the troll scenes.

I will have to watch it for real someday.

I agree.

But really now, THOSE trolls?  Who wants that?

I'll take the trolls of Azeroth instead.

I like it.  It's a decent "found footage" monster film.

Also, allow me to point out that "Norsk vennligst" is Norwegian for "Norwegian please".
