A toast: With my Second-best wine. No, the best, but small goblets.

Love the show, and I'm proud of them for ending it when it should end instead of trying to string it along for more money.

I have a feeling they'll try to do some creative writing at the end, have Spartacus survive and secretly escape to live out his life...

/historically they never found his body

I figure they continue the series with Caesar.

Well no but the survivors was rounded up was crucified along the road back to Rome, so if he survived the battle he likely died on the cross.

So I only watched for Xena boobs. Since they ended season 1 with Xena's boobs possibly dead, I haven't watched much more. Just a few episodes of the "prequel" season (which had Xena boobs).

Is there any point for me to have watched the last season or 2 now?

Well big spoiler alert: Xena was the only one to survive the massacre (besides Ashur). So she's in all of season 2 (or 3, if you count the prequels as an actual season).

But what I'm saying is he escapes, not just a survivor that gets arrested, but actually escapes and makes people watching romance the idea of Spartacus really freeing himself in the end and living out his life in peace.

Boobs? Lipstick Lesbian action?

I saw the first season and the subsequent prequel mini-season, but then I lost access to the show (I had free access to Starz for a promo, and I think some of the episodes were on Netflix for awhile). How well did the show transition from the lutus/arena of the early seasons?

I was going to say I hope Crixus survives to live happily ever after with Naevia, but then I skimmed the recent episode synopses. He was my favorite character; I hope he went out with a bang.

Without Lucy Lawless, this final season has been kinda meh.

unless it suddenly got better -- i haven't seen the last 2 or 3 episodes.

/i assume the ending will be Crucify All The Things, presumably with some sort of computer-assisted slo-mo with Extra Blood Splatter where the hammer swings quickly and then suddenly slows down so we can get the nailing in extra detailed gore.

//spartacus was at its best when it tried to be a serious drama. otherwise it falls too quickly into a low-rent 300 ripoff, just with mock shakespeare dialogue

Of course! Quite a bit actually.

not so well in my opinion, but they had to leave it for story purposes, of course.

So you are saying that 11 seasons and 251 episodes of a TV series that ostensibly covered a time period of around 2 1/2 years would be too much?

/yes, M*A*S*H milked the hell out of that cow, which is probably why I stopped watching at one point and came back later to see the last couple of episodes and the finale
//glad to see Spartacus end well too

I really wish that Renee O'Conner had guest starred for at least a couple of episodes. Ideally it would have been in the Jaime Murray role that way we would have gotten a Xena/Gabrielle topless sex scene. I'm hoping that if they make Caesar a series that Renee will appear.

Great movie BTW.

I think the writers of Futurama are fans of that movie, because Bataitus is pretty much the Hedonism Bot, Crassus is pretty much Zap Brannigan, and Antoninus is pretty much Kiff.

Caesar joins with him, betrays him and then kills him and then crosses the Rubicon and takes over Rome.  The End.

It will never top the original.

The whole movie is a solid 7/10, it kinda drags in places, but this last scene- You don't think too much of it, its sad and all, but then when you see the baby, and you see his face-wow. I sobbed.

7? Id give it higher, but I like a lot of the Political Satire in it. Gracchus is my kind of guy.

I think the pacing is royally farked. Kubrick was high as a motherfarker while he shoot this, I'm assuming. Between his eye for combat and mise en scene and his ability to grok a script, and the minor fact that he had two of the greatest actors in film history as the leads, its feels like an epic movie someone randomly stuck some 15 minute episodes of intense boredom into for no good reason. But that last scene, holy cats, I think it changed my life.

It's been a solid show, and i'm sad to see it go, but history is history and i wouldn't have wanted them to draw it out needlessly.

The Davinci show looks like crap. It's a trumped up rippoff of the Sherlock holmes movies and i, for one, will have none of it.

I would watch the ever living hell out of a Cesar spin off though.

One of the best series ever. Especially in the last 15 years. Amazing story and action. The sex and finally seeing Lucy Lawless naked didn't hurt. Not at all.

*golfclap for Spartacus*

Think they can top the Raymond E Feist moment from the middle of season 2?

Ok, so I watched Season 1 of this show. WTF are you 2 going on about? Xena had no cohesive story (just a set otf reoccuring bad guys), I haven't see Spartacus Liu Kang kick anybody yet AND no Kevin Sorbo.

Ya'll are nuts.

/so is the guy saying it's a top series in the past 15 years, yet you two eclipse him by far

When the burn down the arena in cupa, it feels like when Pug burns down the arena in "Magician" or "Magician: Master".  There are definite difference since Pug is a Magician using magic, but it come off very to how you picture the book going.
