Imagine that you had a boss that made you work really hard at building a house, and you built a great house then the boss came in and said it was crap and knocked it all down and told you to do it all over again.  You'd probably consider that boss to be a sadistic piece of crap.

But the churchgoers meekly say "They are ready to buckle down and do what we have to. With the Lord's help, we are going to rebuild."  With the Lord's help, the tornado wouldn't have wrecked your church in the first place!  Maybe you picked the wrong deity?

Given the headline's source, I'm guessing it took out all of the Deep South-based reporters, too?

Personal faith is one thing. Building where there is a long time history of destructive weather is another.

On the flip side, maybe the Pastor and the congregation do not think God controls the weather.

/Not likely mind you but it is possible

Or your understanding of how Christianity actually works is so shallow it's transparent.

Yeah, I'm going with that.

Sorry that I tried to use reason and logic.
The "Because the Lord works in strange and mysterious ways that us mere mortals cannot comprehend" answer trumps all other arguments.
I have no problem people believing in whatever they want, I just point out the inconsistencies.

Come on fark, why would this go green? Headline isn't snarky, witty, or funny. Is there a new 12 year old mod or something?

One of my FB friends posted a Joel Osteen derp where he says experts built the Titanic and it sunk, but amateurs built the ark and it floated.

All right, update. One of the pigs got into the house while I was taking a dump. I chased the lil basterd around my house, trying to hold my pants up and catch him at the same time. I jumped and grabbed him, only for him to drag me out the door, through the mud and around the trailer park with my genitals flapping in the wind. All while Billy Jim looked on and laughed. I finally wore him down and tossed him in a pen. And then Lady Cyrus winged me in the butt.

Notice too how this "news report" ends on a religious note, casting a preachy pall back over the article. Xians will remember this as "an inspiring testament of faith." And the point is that "God never gives us a an ordeal we can't bear and use to our spiritual benefit," so in any tragedy -- such as your child getting torture-murdered -- is to praise the Lord for giving you such a wonderful opportunity to increase your submission to His Almighty Will. As for the victims of your learning experience, good for them for getting to play that part in God's plan.

And we let these people vote, take government jobs, join the PTA and school board and teach our children.

Nor do I, but civic responsibility should wane where "faith" waxes. If they must "become as little children" we should treat them that way.
