A couple of guys I know in London are looking forward to the show, and not because they're particularly anti-Thatcher, just for the hell of it.

The mean lady is dead, she can't hurt you any more.  Let the country have it's moment of pomp and circumstance.  Going out, acting like children isn't going to do anything but annoy the people who are there for the funeral, and give the cops a chance to smack you around.  It won't change anything, she's been out of power for over 20 years, and will just make you look like douchebags.  Why not act like the bigger, more mature people, and sit this one out?  You kind of remind me of the Westboro Baptist Church people, only on a larger scale.

I suppose everyone loves you when you're dead.

Kinda makes you nostalgic for the good old days.  Breaking strikes, destroying unions, hearing the lamentation of their women... good times.

Umbrellas will be passed out to keep the sweet, sweet tears of the hypocritical Tories who stabbed her in the back in 1990 off the heads of the crowds.

You may say she's dead, but this funeral wants stake.

I seriously doubt they'd make it through UK customs.

I'm going to be there, and like many others, I shall turn my back on her when she passes by, in the exact same way she turned her back on all those whose lives were ruined by her decisions, regardless of whether they were right or wrong, leaving them to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives by themselves.

Julian Cope needs to get with Roger Waters and stage a protest concert in Hyde Park at the EXACT time of the funeral.

Julian was loud in the anti-poll tax protest, Roger being loud about the Falkland island wars.

Morrissey  should promote it.

Nina_Hartley's_Ass

A conservative heroine...

After a deadly shooting rampage in England, Thatcher said, "If [gun laws] need to be tightened up, or if we think that it could prevent anything more like this, then of course that will be considered." A year later, the government passed the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988, which outlawed semi-automatic weapons, changed requirements on registering guns, allowed police to refuse a weapon to anyone they saw unfit, and allowed the Home Secretary to add other guns to the list of banned firearms.

...so she wasn't all bad.

And that's why everyone in England still has to worry about having the King of England coming in to their homes and pushing them around.

I do like that idea a lot more than holding a poorly crafted sign or throwing some rocks at the cops.

Makes for a more striking photo-op for the press, as well. Especially, if you get large groups of people doing it along the route.

Not that the British government is looking for my advice, but if you want to do yourself a massive favor and eliminate some of the issues you are having...use real bullets.

I don't guess it's a surprise anymore around here but the article says the exact opposite of ye olde fark headline up there.

"The police have said they are determined to protect the rights of those wishing to pay their respects, as well as those of the people wishing to hold parties but officers ruled out the use of rubber bullets and water cannon in the event of any trouble. "

Water Cannons and rubber bullets? So all they need is for the police to murder some protestors and it'll pretty much be like she never left office

I think the best person wouldn't show up at all.  Unless you really like standing around for hours waiting to turn your back on someone who is already dead.  Really, it's been twenty years.  Turn the farking page.

Spending that time and energy trying to punish a dead person for the UK's current woes, whether justified or not, isn't doing anything to actually address those woes.  It's about as helpful as this post.

Love her or hate her everyone has to agree that the woman had serious large balls.

Figuratively or literally depending on your opinion of her, naturally.
