Carvey is a thousand times a better comedian then Mike Myers.

/ Mike Myers was the Dane Cook of the late 80s/early 90s

It was after Dana Carvey's heart grew three sizes that day.

Ok, that problem is solved, maybe now Penelope can get her crap together and put the Decline of Western Civilization out on DVD.

Well there actually was a time when Dane Cook was an at least somewhat respected as a stand up comic, Mike Meyers never was as far as I know.

They just did a Wayne's World in 2011 when Carvey hosted SNL. Not much of a feud if you ask me.

Let me guess: they have a new movie coming out?

And a revival of WW when Myer's host an MTV awards thingy a couple of years back? I don't think this is one of those things that works for that many years.

It just occurred to me that it's the same Mike Myer's Wayne's World that is the Mike Myers in Austin Powers. I knew all along that Dana Carvey is the guy that did the awesome impressions of the real George Bush.

And Carvey felt Myers later stole his Dr. Evil impression for Austin Powers, which supposedly was based on Carvey's goof on  Lorne Michaels.

wow.  never thought about that, but that could figure....Carvey's early stand-up was kinda impression heavy, albeit the "what if _____ was imitating _____ and then ran into ___ at the store!" variety, which is now cliche.  but he did that shiat.   i mean, "choppin broccoli", ross perot, president bush, etc., he showed a malleable personality.

Mike Myers has never shown much chops in the way of imitating other people*, outside of his mick jagger impression.  yeah, myers does the scotsman (shrek), the scotsman (fat bastard), the scotsman (axe murderer dad), ronnie wood (english), and then in his biggest role, the english guy.

i could totally see carvey doing lorne and then getting mad myers stole it.

*well, i guess SOMEONE never saw that shiatty "studio 54" movie circa 2002 that only me, Mike Myers, and his dog saw.

Ya know, in review, the Wayne's World movies weren't an epic road trip.

So, for the third one... Murder mystery? The Fugitive knock off? Wayne runs for Congress? Anything but an epic road trip.

Yes, that is what is reported in TFA, albeit rather clumsily: "Carvey felt Myers later stole his Dr. Evil impression for Austin Powers, which supposedly was based on Carvey's goof on Lorne Michaels."

/If I were a teacher grading this, I would write "ambiguous" under the word "which" in red ink.

If we're going to bring back nostalgia from the early 90's can we please have more new Beavis & Butthead episodes instead? The ones they did a year or two ago were great.

Eff all that noise. Dana Carvey has had some bad luck. He had some heart problem where they needed to do very intensive surgery. He dislikes flying so instead of traveling to see the worlds best surgeon for his type of surgery, he decided to go with the lower tiered 3rd or 4th best guy in Cleveland. Turns out that guy worked on the wrong side of his heart, so Dana Carvey went through all the rehab (which took almost a year) and still felt horrible. When they looked at his heart again, they realized it wasn't worked on proplerly and he had to go through the entire process all over. That took a few years off his career in his prime. Dr. Evil and the entire Austin Powers franchise was potentially his but he let one of his good friends take over and develop/produce/star in the thing because he was not physically able to. This whole controversy is bs but we already knew that.

I wish I were cool enough to know when Mike Meyers went from being funny to just being a hack.

2013-04-12 08:24:38 AM
From TFA:

Myers blocked Spheeris from directing the 1993 sequel because she'd ignored his edit suggestions on the original

This made me laugh out loud, because of there is anyone who should NOT be providing editing suggestions its Myers.

I believe he is quite funny, but he has no sense of when to stop a joke (a common failing of people who come out of
an improv comedy background from what I've seen).

That would be great, but I think the execs got a little pissed when Judge made them smarter than the folks on "Teen Mom" and "Jersey Shore"

Mike Myers is very talented, he just doesn't know when to stop. Wayne's world should have been a one off thing, same with Austin Powers, same with Shrek.

Dana Carvey IS more talented than mike Myers, he just has terrible taste in scripts.

Wayne's World should've been a one-off.  Myers got 2 good movies out of Austin Powers and one Ok movie.  He got 1 good movie out of Shrek, one OK movie and then it started to suck.  But he hasn't done shiat in years and must be getting desparate.
