(Cracked)   Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? Uh, I think so, Brain, but is it true I'm really the genius and you're the insane one?   (cracked.com) divider line 86

My co-worker and I have gotten to the point where if one of us asks, "What'll we do tomorrow?," the other immediately replies, "The same thing we do every day:  try to take over the world!"

I'll put it this way:  we'd be about as successful at taking over the world as Pinky and the Brain.

Cracked?  I'm gonna go ahead and figure it's a poorly written article filled with Mr. Fantastic level stretches and concludes with the auther asserting that because s/he thinks so, it must be true.

At first they get baked for about an hour, then Mrs. Potato gets all buttery and salty, then Mr. Potato puts his bacon on her and covers her with sour cream.

It's always amusing when it's painfully obvious that an article's writer doesn't know what he's talking about. I speak of course about Pinky and the Brain, and instead of going into details that will make me seem like a whiny nerd, I'll sit back and feel smug because of his inaccuracies.

Dalrint: Haha, I like the Courage the Cowardly dog theory, that seems the most plausible.

Except there are episodes where we see evidence that the horrors are real and not just Courage's skewering of reality. I'm thinking of the episode where Eustace and Muriel were hypnotized by flan (or something close to that). We saw them come out of their hypnosis at the end, and they were confused by what happened to their bodies ("What happened to you, woman? You're as big as a house!"). If it was all in Courage's head, what made them eat all that flan without being aware of it?

Courage was an incredible show with unnaturally good music.  I remember the episode with Doc Gerbil, and the song they played during the final chase was sublime.

So I went out looking for a list of all of the things typed at the end of the credits (like, "Intentionally left out of the Name Game: Plucky") and can't find a list anywhere.  You'd think that would be the kind of thing they'd have on the wiki, but either they don't or my GoogleFu is weak.

Re: Pinky and the Brain

Sounds like the plot to "Without a Clue", a Sherlock Holmes comedy in which we discover that Holmes is an actor and kind of an idiot, while Dr. Watson is the genius with no sense for the dramatic.

the wall-e one is an interesting theory, I just assumed they all ran out of power and he had a glitch that allowed him to think outside the box and keep himself going.

It is really incredibly sad when fans read way too much into TV shows and movies, especially those from childhood (grow-up ffs). I'd imagine that if you take any of these theories and present them to the creators, they would nod and smile nervously, and roll their eyes while making a circular motion with their index finger pointing to their temple after you have walked away.

I always thought it was pretty clear in Toy Story that Andy's mom was just an unmarried single mother. Would that be so shocking? Is there really that much of a need to turn them into a "normal" family and then come up with a reason there was no father figure?

Der Poopflinger: the wall-e one is an interesting theory, I just assumed they all ran out of power and he had a glitch that allowed him to think outside the box and keep himself going.

That was my take.  The others were just mindless robots, going about their business.  Wall-e on the other hand for some unknown reason got the Johnny 5 treatment, giving him self-awareness, which drove him to learn how to repair himself to keep going.  Which is why he outlasted the others.

Eustace was always a dick, though. You could explain that away by him just taunting her over getting fat and Courage's brain taking it literally.

The Courage theory is actually sort of depressing, if you think about it. Poor dog spends his entire life cooped up in the house with the old people in a constant state of irrational fear every time anything changes slightly....

Not to mention it could just be as simple as his mom's gotten around a few times too many and popped out 2 kids from random people. Not that Andy doesn't have a dad so much as his mom's a single mother.

The Wall-E one is stupid. When have you eve seen every single machine break down at the same time? Whatever makes him more than a robot also makes him have a sense of self-preservation. That's all the backstory we need.

I always liked the theory that the whole of Batman is all part of a revenge fantasy of a dying child. Murderers don't usually leave behind living witnesses. It's all taking place in Bruce's mind after being shot.

[notsureifserious.jpg], but Christopher Robin was A. A. Milne's son, and his toys were the inspiration for the characters in the Pooh books. There's no subtext going on there.
