FARK rebel soldier: salad bar items not protected by a sneeze shield

[lh3.ggpht.com image 850x637]
Sorry about that.

Sir, you disgust me.

Yep, did it once, and it was a high end cruise in Europe and it was about what you expect.  Never again, I don't like feeling like cattle when I travel.

Sir_Farkalot: Glitchwerks: I don't know what a cockroach nymph is, and I'm too scared to search it.

But you're not scared to reveal that you didn't read the article.

/bustin' chops

Pretty sure there wasn't a picure of one in the article.

kidgenius: Fizpez: A fly touched the hamburger meat!!! My god....

If that was the standard I'd have to throw away... pretty much everything I've every cooked outside... no, make that everything I've ever cooked outside.

I would have to throw away a bunch of stuff that I have cooked INSIDE my house. Hell, you get flies inside from time to time and they're going to land on your food.

I wonder if these inspectors have ever been camping? They would probably get an ulcer from all the dirty things touching their food.

I was thinking the same thing. Much ado about nothing, though I suppose they like to get the rich types who fuss over the slightest thing, so... Bleh.

He says in response to the CDC report, "corrective action was taken immediately, with several issues being resolved during the inspection and all issues resolved within 24 hours of the inspection."

They got rid of all the cockroaches in a ship the size of a high rise hotel within 24 hours? Hmm, I thought Carnaval was for clowns, not magicians.

I agree with you:
Still taking my yearly cruise to Alaska, altho it is with Princess I wouldn't mind Carnival.

Carnival has owned Princess since 2003.

It's almost as if people expect more from commercial kitchens that prepare meals for hundreds or thousands of people and have access to refrigeration and clean water to wash their hands...

If no one cares about cockroaches running around, you can bet that they aren't too worried about hand washing.  Incidentally, the way you contract norovirus is by ingesting either the shiat or the vomit of someone who was infected.  In the past 2 months, there have been 3 norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships, infecting over 500 people.

I own a restaurant and you don't get docked points for having a fly or a cockroach nymph.  All kitchens have those at some point, part of the nature of having a lot of food around.  You can never clean enough to capture every crumb or smear that some insect can eat.  If the inspector looks around and everything is generally clean and complies with health department rules they'll ignore that kind of stuff or say something like "you should get a exterminator in here before this becomes a problem."  When your kitchen isn't in order they start looking for stuff to lower your score or shut you down.  It's not that there was a fly, it's that the place overall was unsanitary.

I went on a Carnival cruise once, got some cock action after smoking a roach with a nympho who unzipped my fly and did unhealthy things. But, wait, what were we talking about?

Am I the only one who read the article and thought "If that is all they can find wrong on a ship that size then I am impressed".

Seriously, 2 flies and one roach nymph was it? And some dried food and no sneeze guards. Wow.

86% score. In the UK you get a First Class Degree for 70% and virtually nobody gets 80%. Since when was 86% a bad result?

TV's Vinnie: This didn't happen when white people staffed ocean liners.

(too "right-for-the-throat-y"?)

Hiring most of your staff from cultures and economies which don't or can't provide or understand the value of basic hygiene behaviors and protocols is not a recipe for success.

Grade inflation.

No, that's the first thing I thought too.

Carnival, how farking hard is ths for you?
4.bp.blogspot.com

Put down red or persian carpet, put an ATM next to your internet room, add some plants next to everything, and dump ice cream and hot chocolate on the deck chairs. Maybe invite the king of Merica on the cruise. Simple really.

Well, at least the Carnival Glory has not made the news ... yet ... >.<

To be fair, the cruise wasn't that bad and I won $1000 within 10 mins of sitting down at the penny slots, paying for my entire bar bill for the seven days.  So, I guess that makes up for the maggot burgers I suppose ...

My husband and I don't fly. We are flying phobic. It's not just the loss of control, since we aren't flying the plane or aware of its mechanical/repair history, it's the long, long fall to death that we don't enjoy. However, we've always wanted to go on a cruise. Now, though, we'll just stay home. I would not get on a cruise ship if you paid me. If it's not the mechanical breakdowns or running into the shore, it's the norovirus, if it's not the norovirus, it's the filthy conditions in the kitchens. Sigh.

I'm thinkin' Carnival should just fly the Quarantine flag by default on all their ships from now.
