Every patriot has a duty to squeal. Bad cops undermine the vital role of law enforcement. There are two kinds of bad cops- those who deny the civil liberties of US residents, and those who keep quiet when they encounter type number 1.

The only good cop is a cop who enforces the law regardless of who's breaking it- the guy who steals a Snickers does FAR less damage to the USA and civil society than the cop who illegally subverts the civil liberties of US residents.

Without those who videotape these lawbreakers, we will proceed into this corruption until it is not tolerable, at which point the angriest among us will burn everything down and start over. This process is expensive and bloody. The alternative is to reform over time by exposing malfeasance so that it can be dealt with and the structures of government can undergo continuous improvement. Ironically, it is the reformers the government cracks down on now, even though the alternative is expensive, bloody, disastrous revolt.

Government is made by fools and short sighted beaurocrats, and this is why we can't have nice things.

Yup.

And you know who REALLY hates douchey cops? Non douchey cops. You know who REALLY hates authority-abusing cops? Non-authority-abusing cops. A single incident like this makes it that much harder for real cops, good cops to do their jobs.

You know why "Stop snitchin'" is so effective? Because if you live in "that (kind of) neighborhood" and you call the cops, they may shoot you as they walk up because you have a WEAPON! phone in your hand (with the 911 dispatch on the other end). This scenario almost happened to me - in broad daylight - in PG County (thankfully, she holstered her weapon). The cynic in me wonders, if I was a few shades darker, would the cop have aerated me just to be sure?

Law enforcement should start policing themselves. Qui custodat ipsos custodies? Nofarkingone, unless you do.

I think most people know the difference between blindly hating all cops because they are cops on the one hand, and hating the far too frequent abusive cops that abuse their power because police have very little accountability in this day and age. Not you apparently, but most other people.

Douche: cop going straight to a ticket for smoking as opposed to a 'put that out' and a warning

Douche: dude pulling out a camera and refusing to put it away when asked

Douche: cop demanding that he put it away

Extreme mega Douchebaggery: beating the shiat out of the smoking videoing dude

It started out as a close contest, but the cops easily won this Douchebaggery Event in a rout.

I just came here to mention that the fact that he can't smoke outside on the boardwalk is absolutely ridiculous.  I can understand not wanting butts near the beach, but if this is the problem then make it a ridiculous fine for littering a cig butt.  If you are such a flaming pussy that outdoor second-hand smoke is too much for you then just wrap your windows in saran wrap and stay indoors please.  I promise there's worse stuff floating around in the air, and virtually everything these days is carcinogenic.  A few smoke particles on the beach breeze isn't going to hurt you.

I don't even smoke btw.

Cops treat people the same way. You have one black guy steal a slice of pizza, they treat every black person as dangerous thieving criminals.

You have one Hispanic man caught with a joint, they treat all Hispanics as dangerous drug users and possible cartel kingpins.

Do you have a citation? I'm not snarking, just looking for info. I haven't fully searched upthread so I might have missed it like a jackass. In Illinois they have a fascinating end run around this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illinois_wiretapping_law

The whole idea of a phone conversation would be it's private comms between the parties on either end of the conversation talking. Exactly how that is remotely farking applicable to someone standing in the middle of the street in broad daylight makes the head spin. By that logic I should be able to f*ck a woman right there in the middle of the street because somehow there is a magical right to privacy. If I were a cop, could I do that in Illinois? I'm so confused. Please help me. The statue also applies to people having a conversation. How in the goddamned Jesus rose again motherfarking christ with a hockey stick and dildopants is there ANY EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY WHEN THE CONVERSATION TAKES PLACE IN farkING PUBLIC? Are you also expecting people to go Men In Black and wipe their own memories if they witness a conversation where a cop shouts NUBIAN NUBIAN NUBIAN at someone because that conversation is somehow protected? It's ass backwards as fark. Jumped up xenu on an HIV positive popsicle stick, I hate Illinois.

I have no idea where this language is coming from.

You know, of course, that it's NEVER illegal or dangerous to conform. But be a different race from the majority, or a different philosophy, or religion, or hobby- see how that works out.

Should I paint all members of your group with the same brush?

Neither my "race, religion or profession" is supposed to be there for the service of my fellow citizens.  You seem to think that posting an article about cops being assholes and violating someone rights is a "daily cop hate thread"... and my comment is that there would be fewer of these threads if these incidents weren't so common.  If there were daily examples of white people attacking black people, as there were in the south in the 50's and 60's, then I'd expect daily articles about that.  And I would also expect that people would say, "Damn, those white folks in the south are a bunch of assholes," which is not only what happened then, but the "same brush" they're painted with even to today.

The real reason that cops hate cameras is that all cops lie all the time and have done so forever.

Now that everyone has a video camera on their smartphone, the police have to constantly smash them to ensure that evidence of their constant lying never gets out.

The courts will support the police who do this, because if it gets out that all cops are liars, they'll never be able to convict anyone of a crime based on police testimony again.

I propose a new law where everything is classified as a weapon. The law would have two stipulations.
1) Everyone must be naked
2) Only attractive people can leave their house

This will also solve just about every other problem that we have and lower almost every crime stat to 0.
