Begoggle: Just the daily cop hate thread.
Nothing to see here.

Its vids like this that make them daily.

Alas the worse that will happen to them is a sacking, not fines, no jail time.

Crewmannumber6: timujin: Crewmannumber6: If the police aren't doing anything wrong, then they shouldn't have a problem being recorded.

That's not a valid argument. They can have a problem with it, they can ask the guy to stop recording them. They should not violate his rights if he fails to comply. More tax money wasted because some asshole cop went on a power trip. I wonder how much this latest lottery winner is going to get. Anyone who calls for reducing government waste should be at the front of the line clamoring for these types of cops to get canned.

It's a good enough argument when they want to look in your trunk without a warrant

Apples, oranges, let me show you the difference.  If you were filming him in his house, that would be a problem, but he has no expectation of privacy when he's a public official in a public space.  You have an expectation that your closed and locked trunk will remain so.  Pretending you don't know the difference makes you look all trolly.

Bonzo_1116: OgreMagi: AAlumni: Douche: dude smoking in an area posted as 'no smoking'

We don't know if it was posted.  Nothing in the article as as much.  Some cities have passed laws against smoking publicly, but they don't make it obvious with signs everywhere, so a visitor could easily be in violation without realizing it.

You can't smoke at the beach here because generations of assholes had a bad habit of leaving their butts in the sand.  We banned cigarettes on the beach years and years before booze.

I think the beatdown happened on the beach boardwalk.

(the dude's lucky the cops didn't straight shoot him.  The cops here have been known to perforate homeless dudes for "being threatening".  pigs.)

And yet if I roll my own with no butt I still cannot smoke on the beach ... and yet peeps can eat takeaway, ever noticed how much rubbish is on a beach?

The assh*le butt tossers ruined it for everybody else. Seagulls eat the nasty butts and die. It's not fair to the more "green" smokers.

Nothing to see here.

As a supporter of law enforcement, having family in law enforcement, having worked in law enforcement, the fact we have a "daily cop hate thread" is what I think should draw more disdain than a fark thread. .

Your family needs to work on police PR.  Step one... stop being prick-waving, insecure, power-hungry scofflaws.  Step two... Make your colleagues stop being prick-waving, insecure, power-hungry scofflaws.  I'll give you the benefit of the doubt your family may have accomplished step one.

My family isn't in the PR business.  LE agencies shouldn't be in the PR business.  If an LE agency has a PR wing, that just proves to me, there is a problem that needs to be addressed not brushed aside and/or covered up.

It makes for better media hype when it is a LE agency with an issue but all industries have the same inherent problem.  (hospitals with bad doctors, accountants stealing from their clients...)  The fact that each of them go the PR route to avoid responsibility is the American way.

Of course they shouldn't be in the PR "business", but their entire gig is public relations of one sort or another.  That "LE" farks that up consistently means they have a public relations problem.  A HUGE problem
