I'm still hoping Marvel Studios will be smart enough to hire QT to direct an R or PG-13 rated 1970s-era Heroes For Hire movie featuring Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Shang Chi, and Misty Knight.

Dr Dreidel: swahnhennessy: Maybe they were waiting for a film that all the critics had made them believe was somehow vital or groundbreaking or something, and all they got was a mediocre homage to spaghetti western and blaxpoitation movies that, while certainly not bad, wasn't a masterpiece of any kind. Except maybe for the soundtrack. I mean, that might have upset Chinese people. Just guessing.

Like every other Tarantino movie? They're all hodgepodges of callouts and borrowed themes from blaxploitation, westerns and martial arts films (and cheesy 70s stuff in general). Anyone who didn't expect "Kill Bill set in the Old West" was an idiot who read nothing about the film pre-release. About the only difference was that Django replaced hilariously gory deaths/disfigurements with the N word.

// liked Django

Tarantino would be a very good film maker if he had a producer who told him he had 110 minutes and then the titles roll, no matter what. His later movies could have 30 mins cut and be much better for it.

/Lucas and Bay could do with a good director and writer, Camaron and Scott need some one to say no to them and McG needs to go back to soft core porn films where he belongs.

Slaves2Darkness: Yes, well revenge fantasies are popular, they just aren't very good. Lots of people liked the Sopranos, Sex in the City, Dextar, and the Game of Thrones too, that does not make them very good, just popular.

Sex and the City is a revenge fantasy?

Dextar?

Judging by reviews about 8 in 10 people seem to think it's pretty good, so no, try again.

MyKingdomForYourHorse: scottydoesntknow: Saw Django Unchained this weekend actually. Enjoyed the hell out of it. Definitely over-the-top, like every Tarantino movie, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

My favorite part in the movie

"Say goodbye to Miss Candy"
"Goodbye"
BAM

Which was actually a call-back to an earlier conversation that King Schultz had with Candie.

King Shultz: "Mister Candie, normally I would say "Auf wiedersehen," but since what "auf wiedersehen" actually means is "'till I see you again", and since I never wish to see you again, to you, sir, I say goodbye."

Django told Shultz's corpse "auf wiedersehen" before attacking the house, he told them to say goodbye to her, meaning they would never see her again.

It's a damn good movie.
