biyaaatci: When I was still a smoker, I took my little girl to Disney World for a week.  When I was dying for a smoke, I had tried to find a spot where I would not be drawn and quartered for smoking.  I went to this secluded area beside Cinderella's castle where I smelled someone else was smoking.  When I found the ashtray, who was next to it puffing away?  Why none other than Snow White.  I have a feeling she wasn't in that job very long, because I don't think they're ever supposed to break character, and I am pretty sure that the real Snow White was a non-smoker.

That and smelling nasty.

roughridersfan: She said her first day, she posed for pictures with people, but it took her half a day to realize that she didn't need to smile when posing for pictures because nobody could see her face anyway. At that point, she started having fun inside the mask - sticking out her tongue or whatever. Made her day a lot more enjoyable

I dress as a sandtrooper for the 501st and STILL farking smile sometimes in the helmet. I try to catch myself but it's amazingly hard.

not condoning age discrimination here, but perhaps a little common sense.  I mean, if you are portraying a teen, for example, maybe it isn't some big evil conspiracy that you are now too old to portray that character at some point.

Disney princesses go through a tough selection process and their careers are over before they become 27

Playing a Disney character should not be a career aspiration. Disney is doing them a favor by giving them walking papers when they turn 27.

One got offered a job as parade Tinkerbell for $12.00 per hour

Funny, I used to have a friend who did the princesses makeup.  Made just over $30.

ShamWowofDamocles: not a csb

Three years ago I was at Disneyland just after the park opened.  I took a seat on a bench near the Carnation Cafe to await the arrival of the rest of my party.  Mary Poppins (or rather the person portraying her) walks up, and in character delivers some throw away line about me being alone.  Sweet mother of your deity of choice...she was smoking hot.

/I know, not a princess

A girl from my HS is a talented actress/singer and who worked on the Disney ships after college playing Cinderella. She said it was fun. She was super pretty - surprised me that that was the highlight of her career.

I was in the musical Camelot years ago.  I played Lancelot.  The worst part was not only was I expected to look like Lancelot during the performance, I also had to stay in character while I was on stage!

During the song "C'est Moi" I wanted to just sit down and not sing but they insisted that not only do I stand, but that I remember rehearsed choreography!

Yes because everyone worldwide reads Redit so there is no need to ever, under any circumstances, repeat anything that's ever said on that site.

Hey, if you want to support just recaping old reddit threads there are thousands of interesting ones. I'm sure we could do it for years. Maybe I can convinced the Dailymail to pay me to do it.

Reddit is just 4chan with a slightly higher average user age and more actual pedophiles.

I am 28 and work at a high school. The school is split into three separate buildings. I have been stopped by staff in the other two buildings because they thought I was a senior trying to skip class.

Then again, Lilo is two years younger than me and looks like she's 40. Physical signs of aging are relative.

CSB time:

I have an acquaintance who worked as a Disney park princess - at Tokyo Disney. Unfortunately for her, she was one of their most scantily clad ones; Jasmine from Aladdin. She said she loved working with the kids, but half the time she'd get Japanese businessmen who would get all excited and come running up for photos, exclaiming "JAZZZA-MIIIIN!!!" Of course when taking photos, they nuzzled their faces up to her chest and gave peace signs.

Kinda like this, but with roles reversed.

And Reddit being a higher-traffic site is relevant because...?  It's still largely populated by emotionally stunted man-children who feign ignorance and indignation whenever anyone calls them out on their misogyny, racism, or stupidity.  Though, admittedly, 4chan folks are much less likely to go to other sites and biatch/brag about how something was on 4chan first.

According to these girls, they have "parade" characters and regular walk around characters.  So, if her friend took the job that was offered, she would only be in parades and only out in the park when the real Tinkerbell was sick.
Not sure. The girl didn't take the job because her friends weren't offered a job and the plan was that they would all be princesses together.
I know, I know, but they are 18 and this is how they wanted to spend their year between high school and college.

Not yet.
Once she appears in a Disney production, then she's fair game.

We have to have some rules moving forward.

You can be.  Since you are in San Francisco it wouldn't matter if you were male or female, so long as you can rock the princess costume.

My stepdaughter's favorite disney character was Ariel.  So of course we had to see her when I took the family to Disneyland.  The kid's comment after getting her picture, "Ariel is fat".

Totally agree.

WienerButt: I worked at Disney during college and banged the girl who played Ariel.

Boy, was she a freak. She was exceptionally cool, however, as a lot of them were a bit snobby.

A lot of guys who work there, especially in that department, are super gay. Being straight and relatively good looking at Disney means you have a revolving door of cute girls.

I like your style sir.

Disney is in the process (at this very moment) of solving many of the issues that have come up with the walk around characters over the decades. Both face and costume. The results of that work will be seen in the new park currently under construction in Shanghai. Everything is going to be very different after that park opens.

I've been to Disneyland in Anaheim a couple of times and the kids doing the roles are one of the best things about the joint. I watched an "Ariel" sitting out in the pouring rain in February talking to a little girl in Wellies and lobsterman's gear. That little girl was glowing with the attention. It was like the best day ever for her. I emailed Disney management and insisted they give Ariel a raise.

That said, it's a good job for a college student. I can't see someone making a career out of it.
