Bontesla: Just tuning in. What did I miss??

There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?

Marine1: Russ Feingold's Brass Balls: lostcat: In other new: Tornados in Arkasnas.

Not really news, but this year's first salvo will be striking near me soon enough. Not really looking forward to it.

We're getting rocked with thunderstorms here in central Missouri. I'm not enjoying it.

They'll be near me tomorrow

For this they interrupt jeopardy?

traffic was unusually good tonight around 6 taking 85 to 285, mostly Dekalb but a little bit of Gwinnett in there, maybe because everyone was at the scene. News shot looks like freaknik, with white people

Second ambulance - that's not good

2013-04-10 07:43:48 PM

Canton: The_Sponge: It depends on the department.  IIRC, members of the LAPD always work in pairs.

Awesome T-Shirt: Depends on the agency. Some cars are doubled up depending on how bad the area is, but most ride solo.

ha-ha-guy: I was figuring the place that is so broke they can't field ambulance drivers, likely can't afford to field police in pairs.  One of the first things broke departments seem to do is send people out solo since it halves the payroll costs.

Ahh, okay. Makes sense, thanks.

On the other hand, it might be more cost-effective to send a pair of officers in the event of an ambulance run, than to abandon a car somewhere, to be picked up later (which would also require two drivers, one of whom would drop the other off at the scene.)

/Logistics

It's extremely inefficient and not logical, but they've been doing it that way for 50 years and they're not about to change.

I know I personally won't be blaming the banks for him taking firefighters hostage...but, maybe that's just me.

Adolf Oliver Nipples: Shadow Blasko: Oh joy... can we go a day without someone snapping?

In a country of over 300 million? No.

This stuff would not even have been reported a few years ago. It's that guns are the new black right now and the news networks have 24 hours to fill that anybody even cares.

I thought brown was the "new black"?

change1211: America sucks.

Yeah, I know what you mean, 14 people get stabbed on a college campus and no one cares, yet a few people get held hostage by a guy with a gun (that hasnt been fired) and people get all worked up.

Bontesla: Suspect deceased.

One injured officer. Non-life threatening.
One firefighter. Non-life threatening.

That was wrapped up quickly. Sorry to see the guy go... but... well... that's what happens when you take public servants hostage.

Yeah. The suspect sounded desperate. I'm sure he knew it would end this way...

This isn't about what the banks did, bla bla bla. This is about a crazy farking a-hole that deserves to be punished for being a crazy farking a-hole.

/in regards to all the comments about banks, they are to blame for what happened
//the people who had a household income of $65K and a net worth of $20K and took the mortgage on a house valued at $500K, they are also to blame. Ignorance doesn't negate blame

2013-04-10 07:49:09 PM
Oh, so the firefighters are finally getting a taste of how it feels and they don't like it?  Boo-hoo, why don't you go cry all over another innocent fire?  It's about time someone stood up for fire.  Keep fighting the good fight, firefighterfighter!

2013-04-10 07:49:30 PM
The switch to "firefighters" rather than "firemen" really ruins that pun.

Judges?  Sorry, the correct response was "What is 'He didn't want to PAY to get the utilities back on?'"

/seeing as how they interrupted Jeopardy, you know.
