The bill, called The Women's Right to Know Act, also requires doctors to provide controversial information to patients either seeking or inquiring about an abortion of a link between the procedure and breast cancer. The National Cancer Institute concluded in 2003 that abortion does not raise the risk for breast cancer, but physicians would have to address the issue as a "potential risk" for women seeking an abortion.

The Wichita Eagle reported that Rep. Annie Kuether, D-Topeka, responded to the bill's passage by saying the measure should be called "the Women's Right to Be Lied to Act."

Why do these men hate women so much?

Yes. My question was rhetorical.

So basically, Republicans are using the power of government to mandate doctors lie to their patients and give them faulty medical information that could put their lives at risk.

Yes. Of course once those unwanted kids are born, Republicans feel a great obligation to aid those children.

Kansas has done so much stupid shiat in the past few weeks that it's like the state WANTS to knock off Mississippi for the title of Worst State in the Union. It's like watching the entire place self-immolate in an orgy of failure.

I see that "teach the controversy" has graduated high school and entered the medical field.

They're motivated by evil. It's the only explanation. That thought occurred to me yesterday when I learned that the Governor of New Mexico vetoed a bill that would help all military families, only to sign the exact same bill after it was reworded to exclude gay servicemen and women. Shame on her. I don't give a fark what the Democrats do anymore. I'm motivated solely on keeping you farking troglodytes out of office.

We found the mythical scenario in which Republicans are against tax breaks for businesses. Never thought I'd see the day.

North Carolina is in strong contention with their current attempts to establish Christianity as the state religion, but yea Kansas is really fighting for that trophy.

But they are also completely against any government intervention in medical care! Don't let the government get between doctors and patients!

Yes. The "affordable" care act and alternative "minimum" tax immediately come to mind.

It's like spending more money and calling it a spending cut.

Sort of like in 2003 when Bush introduced his whole "Clear Skies Initiative" which actually made the skies dirtier.

From Wikipedia:

Among other things, the Clear Skies Act:

Allows 42 million more tons of pollution emitted than the EPA proposal.
Weakens the current cap on nitrogen oxide pollution levels from 1.25 million tons to 2.1 million tons, allowing 68% more NOx pollution.
Delays the improvement of sulfur dioxide pollution levels compared to the Clean Air Act requirements.
Delays enforcement of smog-and-soot pollution standards until 2015.
By 2018, the Clear Skies Act will supposedly allow 3 million tons more NOx through 2012 and 8 million more by 2020, for SO2, 18 million tons more through 2012 and 34 million tons more through 2020. 58 tons more mercury through 2012 and 163 tons more through 2020 would be released into the environment than what would be allowed by enforcement of the Clean Air Act.

Republicans - misnaming laws to trick people since....forever

I think you spelled it wrong - it's "The Women's Right to NO Act".

I wonder if folks ever move out of states simply due to the staggering amount of derp.  Some states may remain totally Red while their citizenry simply are "purified" to morons and those who make money off morons.

I'd rather see the list of hypocritical lawmakers who have voted to deny poor people the right to a safe abortion while ensuring that their knocked up daughters have access.

If they spent less tomorrow than they spent yesterday, yes, someone would call that a cut.

Typical lib MSM media, taking words out of context to make conservatives look sneaky and hypocritical. The quoted title was just an abbreviation; the bill's actual name was the "Women's Right To Know Their Place Act".

God Is My Co-Pirate: I hope the doctors who are being required to lie to their patients sue the shiat out of this bill.

I wonder if the doctors get away with saying, "OK, the state requires me to tell you this, but it's a lie", read the state mandated script, then say"OK, that was all bullshiat."

Calling this a "right to know" act would be similar to a pre Civil War law being called a "slave's right to work" act that mandates beatings for lazy slaves.
