bhcompy: Cerebral Knievel: bhcompy: Oldiron_79: Winterlight: MaxxLarge: That doesn't look like a Heineken truck.

I'm not sure that even qualifies as a beer truck.

Well the big 3 distribute stuff they dont make on contract, so it probably had some imports and micros on board.

Anheuser Busch has their own distributorships in some areas and they have contracted distributorships in others.  They all use the same trucks, but the cabs will have labeling indicating they are a contractor if that is the case.  They also carry different beers based on distributorship(for instance: some carry Grupo Modelo products, some do not).  And, yes, they contract with micros as well.  A-B distributes Red Hook and Widmer nationally(as far as I remember).

I get what you are saying, but AB, doesn't own any distribution companies, in the traditional concept of ownership at least. That's the point of the three tiered system after all.

the distributors, are able to carry whatever product they want in addition to the "flagship". AB is going to be doing its best to allocate marketing and sales resources to a given local.
A distributor is going to have sales reps that deal with the various tiers of product. May or may not have a team to sell that tier and may or may not have someone dedicated to a particular brand.
On the distribution level, we don't have anyone dedicated to our brand. But folks who deal with our tier of product and production.
We at the brewery still need to be handling a great deal of marketing and sales ourselves. We all like to think the shiat will sell itself, but it won't.

A-B does own and operate distributorships in some areas.  I worked for one for a few years that A-B purchased(around 2000) and operated.  Anheuser-Busch Beach Cities(Carson CA, formerly called Sunset, handles distribution in LA County beach cities) is owned and operated by Anheuser-Busch.  In the neighboring county(another distributorship territory), A-B has a contracted distributorship(Straub).

I am absolutely sure they do in certain localities where it is permisable, and I will not argue or deny that point.

Western regions tend to have a wild wild west mentality to sales and distribution. All lot of stuff just flies. I was a little annoyed at CBC13 conference this year because there was a seminar I took that was called allies or enemies. But everyone on the panel was from San Diego where they have almost 100 independent breweries with a tier system and community that allows for people to self distribute with a community that is reasonable to get along with. The seminar did not address anything outside of the microcasm. "We all get along, and so should you!" And for the most part we all do get along.

but to think that one local model works for the rest of the nation is woefully.... hopefull

show me: NeuralSpike: Always was confused why people thought Guiness was heavy, is it because it's dark?

And the delicious creamy head on top, and the strong bitter taste.

Oh, didn't realize people think that what bitter is. It's moderately flavorful, but I wouldn't call it that bitter. It's a nice safe stout. The creamy head is great though.

Kittypie070: At least I can get Carlsberg in this damned hick town.

I should try Guinness, it sounds crunchy.

Good beer hard to find in your locale? Can you have it delivered where your at? If so, try ordering some online; Guinness is good, but you can do better.

If we're guessing, I'm going with "jerking off to homosexual midget clown porn in his mother's basement".
