After a Dallas Fark party, he had to be someplace at some stupid time like 5 am.  He left early.  I closed the bar and then went to a different one. Life happens.

I'm not one to make fun of Bud Light. I have many friends who are otherwise good people who drink it. I prefer at minimum a slightly more full bodies beer such as Bud if I'm going to be watching 6 hours of football. If I'm not drinking a lot and want a couple for the taste, I'll go for something heavier, up to and including Belgian, Guiness, or a heavy Scotch Ale. And all things in between.

I drink bud light.  Because I have only recently started tolerating the taste of even that and have a long way to go before I can drink real beer.

I hear he'll get off light. They're going to water down the charges. He won't have to spend much time in the can. His friends are sticking their longnecks out for him in the hops it will help.

Well, in that case, it's probably a good choice. Mind you, I won't turn one down if that's what's available, it's decent enough.

It's a beer dist. truck, wouldn't it have a bunch of other brands in it? If someone offered me a bud keg that fell off a truck for $50 I'd take it. Empty keg alone is worth it.

Rarely do kegs dropped off a truck ever survive in tact and useable for the next fill-up.

Always was confused why people thought Guiness was heavy, is it because it's dark?

2013-04-10 01:57:53 PM
I'm sure Drew has learned not to drink Anheuser-Busch products.  But if it was him, I'd imagine he'd have driven the truck into the nearest body of water shallow enough for him to escape but deep enough to destroy the contents of the truck, thus saving humanity for all of five seconds.

The distributor owns that truck, not the brewery, and the distributor may have gotten support from the brewery to decorate the truck, but they most likely paid to advertise their flag ship product. Just because the truck SAYS bud light on the side, does not mean it is filled with bud light.
I filled a semi trailer yesterday with 22 pallets of mixed draft and package, wholesale value over $50k. That trailer was decorated with the bud lite logo and I am not offended by that. Because I'll do it again tomorrow.
It would be damn nice to see our logo on a truck that large. I won't lie about that at all. But we all know who really butters that toast at the end of the day.

Y'know.. I don't doubt it, but I have never had it. I'm not even sure if I can get it here in town. And even if I could it would be limited to a sspeciality wine and beer store.
next timeI go to the harbor freight, I'll check out the total wine and beer store next door to it.

I have to go to DC to get chechvar as it is

Anheuser Busch has their own distributorships in some areas and they have contracted distributorships in others.  They all use the same trucks, but the cabs will have labeling indicating they are a contractor if that is the case.  They also carry different beers based on distributorship(for instance: some carry Grupo Modelo products, some do not).  And, yes, they contract with micros as well.  A-B distributes Red Hook and Widmer nationally(as far as I remember).

I get what you are saying, but AB, doesn't own any distribution companies, in the traditional concept of ownership at least. That's the point of the three tiered system after all.

the distributors, are able to carry whatever product they want in addition to the "flagship". AB is going to be doing its best to allocate marketing and sales resources to a given local.
A distributor is going to have sales reps that deal with the various tiers of product. May or may not have a team to sell that tier and may or may not have someone dedicated to a particular brand.
On the distribution level, we don't have anyone dedicated to our brand. But folks who deal with our tier of product and production.
We at the brewery still need to be handling a great deal of marketing and sales ourselves. We all like to think the shiat will sell itself, but it won't.

Funny story...

The local Elk's Lodge down the street from our house had a beer cooler out back, that was actually a parked semi trailer - FULL of cases of beer.

My brother and his friends would go there, cut the padlock on the door, steal a few cases, then replace the lock with an identical one.  They did this repeatedly and never got caught.  The folks from the club just kept thinking that their locks were broken, or that they had the wrong key, or something.

Ah...  Good times...

A-B does own and operate distributorships in some areas.  I worked for one for a few years that A-B purchased(around 2000) and operated.  Anheuser-Busch Beach Cities(Carson CA, formerly called Sunset, handles distribution in LA County beach cities) is owned and operated by Anheuser-Busch.  In the neighboring county(another distributorship territory), A-B has a contracted distributorship(Straub).
