I've spent several minutes combing through TFA trying to find subby's point. No luck so far.

Cutting long-term deficits with economic growth is good policy.  I assume  subby is one of those people who thinks a household budget is the same as a federal government budget.

  2013-04-10 08:28:04 AM
What difference does it make subby? Congress doesn't pass budgets. Fartbongo could have drawn on a paper with crayon and submitted it and it would have made no difference.

Clearly the answer is to gut the infrastructure and give the rich the proceeds.

They never use the pres. Budget anyway. Its just  a suggestion....a really bad suggestion this time. I bet that bat shiat crazy pelosi wouldnt even vote for it.

He'll also Unchain SS from CPI - he's freeing everything today.  Hope he's zipped up today - otherwise, Obama to unleash the Kracken as well - that's Kracken with a "K".

I remember that republican president that never spent any money. Those were the days.

  2013-04-10 08:42:28 AM
Hey  subs, it's a budget.  That's "budget" with a "b".  It is designed to direct "spending" with an "s".  And Cheney said that Reagan with an "R" proved that deficits don't matter with an "m".

  2013-04-10 08:43:14 AM
No one going to mention that Obama's proposed budget is only slightly higher than what the CBO projects for outlays?

  2013-04-10 08:43:59 AM
So, uh, about the same as it's been, and in fact a bit lower than usual?

Not filling me with outrage here, subby, that's like 23% of GDP and thus pretty low historically.

  2013-04-10 08:45:01 AM
And that's way too low. We should be deficit spending like crazy to kick the economy back into gear and Treasury bond yields are below inflation.

But it's a really big number when taken out of context, and big numbers are terrifying.

As long as we keep an eye on inflation, yes, yes we can.

HMS_Blinkin: Cutting long-term deficits with economic growth is good policy.  I assume  subby is one of those people who thinks a household budget is the same as a federal government budget.

Subby thinks that $376 trillion of the $377 trillion budget will be used for obamaphones, abortions for illegal immigrants, and wedding gifts for same sex couples.

  2013-04-10 08:49:43 AM
So, another smaller budget, which will probably be painful for insufficient reason.  Of course, Republicans will reject it without looking at it.  And it'll probably mean layoffs if implemented.

  2013-04-10 08:49:48 AM
So he's proposing cutting the federal budget by almost 1% in absolute terms and by about 3 to 4% in real terms after taking into account inflation...

Subby has a problem with slow, planned and controlled cutting of government spending?

BIG

NUMBER

BAD

  2013-04-10 08:51:58 AM
This budget sets up that debate. Republicans are, at this point, out of excuses. They can't say the president isn't reaching out to them. They can't say he's not willing to make painful concessions - or, to rephrase, they can say that, but given all the on-the-record quotes of Republican leaders demanding the White House accept means-testing Medicare and chained-CPI, no one will take them seriously. The White House is calling their bluff. The question is whether, as the pressure mounts, they double down against compromise, or they begin to fold. Link

NUMBER

I think it should be $.05.  It should be $.05.

Before we vote for austerity measures, we should do the following:
1. Cut all defense spending by 75%
2. Bring home all overseas troops; close all overseas military bases. Best way to support our troops is to not use them.
3. Immediately stop all corporate welfare for Big Ag, Big Pharma, and all fossil fuel companies
4. 100% profit tax surcharge on all US-based companies who outsource any of their labor
5. raise the medicare/social security eligibility age to 70
6. Return the income tax rates to what they were in 1999
7. All churches of any religion or denomination, which have a congregation of more than 100 people, lose their tax-exempt status.
8 $.01 tax per transaction on all stock market trades.

This will put shift the burden of maintaining a stable society to those who benefit most from it, and punish those who profit from an unstable society

TFerWannaBe: But it's a really big number when taken out of context, and big numbers are terrifying.

But, um, it's not, we've been hearing numbers in the low trillions tossed around in reference to the sequester, the Iraq war, etc for quite a long time now.  I didn't even have to look that up to know it was basically in line with previous budgets (albeit I did have to look up the % of GDP thing and that it was lower than last year's in real dollars).

Why do people get so bent out of shape when a negative is posted about the current president?  Nothing constructive to argue the reason, just knee jerk responses?

On a bright note however, at least "why do you hate america" isn't said, like it was with Bush.  Good god that man did so much wrong I have no idea how people could defend him.

According to the GOP it needs massive amounts of money to run when they are in charge, and nothing at all when they are in opposition.

$33,000 per family.  For what?  Do the feds provide $33,000 worth of benefit for you family?  Many things we think are paid for by taxes are covered by state taxes.

And the Republicans don't seem to play the long game.  They're too corporate minded to think about that.  And that's where they really fail against Obama.  They're pushing business as usual using tired old rhetoric and lies.  Obama is cementing everybody's anger towards Republicans.  He's not constantly reaching out to Republicans hoping they change; he's constantly reaching out for the Republicans to hang themselves.  And they do, whether it's a fit of overreach or because their propaganda has made their own voter base turn it into a stupid game.

The greatest victory of Obama will be hanging the Republicans by their own petard.  The Republicans believe they are creating some grand case to show Obama as an anti-Clinton, unable to boost the budget.  Obama is showing that the Republicans and their thirty years of pathetic economic growth as something that nobody should ever, ever vote for.  And the Republicans, blind to reality, are falling for it time and again.

Because nothing negative was said. Subby was just trolling to whip up clicks. $3.77 trillion is a big number and people react to it, even if there are lots of teeny, tiny details and asterisks that come with that big number.
