Hate to break it to you but those computers have been letting you win. WOPR's old school; he plays for keeps.

So's India. I'm curious as to how this plays out.

Until he and the news anchors he's emulating start using local pronunciation of American place names, it's all a bunch of B.S.  Mostly, I just want them to pronounce "Marina del Rey" like the locals do.

Computers always take the best move available based on an initial strategy.  You exploit that.  I don't win every single game I play, but enough to where WOPR would have not learned the lesson that all Global Thermonuclear War is futile.

...and we are talking about a movie that practically took a Louisville Slugger to your head with its anti-war, anti-nuke message, right?  ;-)

Enlighten us, then.  Marina del Rey  looks easy enough to pronounce, so I would guess I pronounce it wrong (is it "REE" v. "RAY"?).  I don't do it on purpose, I just don't know.    We have a lake in NC spelled "Kerr" and pronounced "Car" .  Nobody gets it right the first time, and I cringe a little when i hear "CURR", but I don't get angry.  I do let them know about the local pronunciation.

What does get me is when people pronounce things wrong on purpose.  Republican phone banks make sure of this by phonetically spelling Iraq  EYE-RACK.  Its childish.

Pfft, that cannot even get halfway into India.  None of the good Hindu targets in India are withen 900 km of Pakistan.  And why would you bother pointing it the other way towards a "Government of the month" -Istan country?

It doesn't take a village to make a nuke. It only takes a dozen extremely smart people to make it. In a country of over 100 million I'm sure there are more than a few Einsteins even if 99.99% are complete illiterates.

As an FYI...in reality though a relatively large portion of the Pakistani population is actually quite educate and 'smart.

Perfect strategy leads to a draw for any opening move. I would believe you if you said you never lost to a computer, but that's not the same as winning a game. Are you sure it was a computer you were playing against and not a chicken in disguise?
