I can imagine it now:

"Grandpa has been nonverbal and unresponsive for a week now. We need to do something or we're going to lose him."

"I have just the thing, therapy llamas."

"Jeezus Christ. This nursing home you stuck me in is so bad, they keep farm animals in here with us!"

Not completely practical because Llamas spit.  Best if you find one that swallows.

Would it help if you brought in teenagers to spit on the old people?

Like their camel cousins who wandered across the land bridge between their American homeland and Asia, llamas spit when annoyed. They can be aggressive as well. I remember the llamas from a fun park/zoo I visited as a child and they aren't exactly pleasant company unless they are used to you. They are more goat-like than sheep-like.

The poor lions were really sad, cooped up in the cage, walking around in tight circles. It would have helped their morale immensely to be let out with the llamas and the visitors.

Personally I think spitting is a vile and uncivilized habit.

Rule One of Civilization:  The inside stuff stays inside and the outside stuff stays outside.

fta "We have seen people that haven't verbalized or been responsive to other types of therapy treatments in months, attempting to speak, and trying to sit up and reach out to touch Rojo or Smokey," the team writes on their website. "Others that don't usually want to leave their rooms, eager to come out when they know we are there; tears of joy when we make in-room visits,

Sounds like where I work. Do they make office visits?

DAMN, man.  Warn somebody about something like that, before someone starts crying at work for no apparent reason. (I held it together, but only just barely.)

That said, I listened to the whole thing.  Powerful stuff.
