FTA: The sister said that it was an 'ill-advised prank' by her 'scrawny gamer' brother and that he was just doing it to get more popularity on the Internet.

Great Janitor: As a 6'1" male with a penis 9" long and 2" thick with only 2% body fat who drives a Lamborghini to the modeling agency that I founded from my success as a male model where I help other aspiring models make it big in the industry, internet liars make us all look bad, make us all look like we are nothing but liars and worse.  Now, I've only just got back home from the Gym like 26 minutes ago or else I would have responded sooner...

thiefofdreams: The reason the ignore function is superior is that you alone can decide what you read and not read. On reddit you have to scroll down to see what differing views are. On fark, I see them right in the order they were posted. Also, it gets rid of that person from your list on any thread you read, so ignore is superior in that it only affect you.

This whole idea that people need to be downvoted because you don't like what they say is exactly why I don't frequent reddit. I just don't like others deciding what I should read and in what order.

As for censorship, having to scroll down sometimes numerous pages effect everyone in the thread, ignore only effects you.

I was going to gift you TF until you used the wrong spelling of "affect".

Knowing that murder has no statute of limitations I would not even joke about that one, unless it was someome who died before I was born.

Also I was the second gunman on the grassy knoll.

WillofJ2: Had no idea what reddit was till some guy on cnn complained that all the stuff he posted on there ruined his life, because his true identity got out like, compared it to a superheros secret identity being revealed.....

If you confess to a crime even if you didnt do it shouldn't you still have to suffer all of the consequences in the form on years of community service or weekly public beatings?

Well, if you live in Texas, yes.

Rhino_man: RoyFokker'sGhost: Rhino_man: SpdrJay: I am a liar. Everything I say is a lie....

FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU U UUUUUUU

/Paradoxical statement is paradoxical.

No it's not. Lying by saying everything you say is a lie still makes you a liar even if you told the truth with the first statement. Because if you sometimes tell the truth, then not everything you say is a lie.

The statement "Everything I say is a lie" is, in itself, paradoxical.  You see, if everything you say is a lie, then that means that the self-indicting statement is a lie... which means that not everything you say is a lie, thereby indicating that there is the potential for truth in said statement... and if it's true, then it's a lie and therefore cannot be true.  So it cannot be a lie.

Schrödinger's lie is true.

But your proposing a false assumption: that in order to be classified as a liar, one must lie 100% of the time. The only real qualification to be classified as a liar is that you are known to be telling a lie at the time or that you have earned a reputation for telling lies. There's nothing that says that a liar cannot tell the truth at times. So in the original statement, he's lying 50% of the time.

"Everything I say is a lie."  If this statement is true, then it is a lie.  Period.  Therefore it's paradoxical.

GungFu: I killed someone once. Actually, it was two people. A single bullet. From 2kms away. Slight westerly breeze.

I used to be a special forces marksman. Black Ops. Elite Martial Corps. Division X. If you wait for the targets to walk in front, or behind the other, you can shoot through their eyeballs and achieve a double hit with one bullet. It was my trademark. There were videos on Youtube before they got hanked off. You can only find it in specialist underground sites now. Many of them are titled 'Super Soldier Magic Bullet Trick'.

I know what a "magic bullet" is but I don't think I want to know what kind of tricks a super soldier would be doing with one.

No, that is called cyber bullying, which is the worst thing ever when it happens to a hot teenage girl, but acceptable when it is someone the internet doesn't like.

No. The statement 'I am a liar.' is true. The statement 'Everything I say is a lie' is a lie because not everything he says is a lie. Yet, he has told a lie, which validates the truth of the first statement.

Shakin_Haitian: thiefofdreams: Fair_Poopsmith: thiefofdreams: Fair_Poopsmith: thiefofdreams: As for not attention whoring, are you reading the thread. It is about someone doing just that on reddit. Also, didn't reddit just get done with a some pedo-teacher snapping shots of girls in school and posting them?

Sounds like a great site, but just ask redditors they will tell you how much more awesome they are. Kinda like you are doing right now.

I'm talking about politics threads specifically, not Reddit in general.  Yes, attention whoring looms large.  But man.  As someone who Farked more than a few hours a day from September 2001 and TFing about half as long, there really is more quality discussion happening in those threads than in our Politics threads for the past 4 years.  It took me a bit of convincing, but it's nice not to have to constantly roll my eyes at people who get off on throwing discussions off track.

So stick to the topics and use the ignore function. They are there so you don't have to roll your eyes.

I personally would rather know what kind of crazy there is out there, instead of reading the same Ron Paul is god thread over and over again.

Quality discussion is differing views being aired and discussed. At reddit this doesn't happen. Unpopular view points are voted down. The reason you probably found it more agreeable is because the reddit political threads tend to lean your political way. That would be my guess then.

Perhaps you should just realize that morons post shiat on the net, and ignore is a great function.

I feel like using an ignore function is far more akin to censorship than to have to scroll down to see what most people considered poor discussion.  I've never felt like people shouldn't be expressing contrary ideas, it's just offensive when it steamrolls in over something that's an on-topic discussion taking place.  I think you're confusing the people I'm talking about with "people I don't agree with."  I'm not talking about a guy who keeps posting ...

Groupthink is how reddit works. It is a bunch of college students self-backslapping and voting down things they don't lie. I prefer honest open discourse where I can tell how crazy the person is because all their posts are right there.

I am not being 90. I tried it for a while and decided I didn't like reading the same 10 attention whore's opinions because people and there hold some at a higher regard than others.

If I want to look at pics of cats or hear about Ron Paul or see pictures that are on facebook/4chan/9gag/ or some pic of food/pets/babies/what someone thinks is funny, I can go to imagur and see reddit without having to read a bunch of other crap.

Right now, as of writing this, the top 5 things of reddit's hot list.

1)Luigi's Manson
2)Someone in ripped skinny jeans, AWing.
3)Some dude's pic from 1987 talking abotu harhar we dressed silly back then
4)The Bitcoincrash
5)A pizza guy tipping thread.

Yeah that sounds like the kind of place I want. It is like the college aged attention whores just get to whore it up. Sorry, but that kind of schlock is the reason I avoid reddit.

No offense but half this shiat wasn't funny or entertaining when I was in college.

But by all means, you should go back there to post more, and less here.

Look, the statement "I am a liar" is completely irrelevant to the paradox. "Everything I say is a lie" is true if I always lie, which makes it false because it was true. It's paradoxical because it cannot at the same time be both true and false, and yet it seems to be. The problem lies more in linguistics and the shortcomings of language than with an actual paradox.

MrHappyRotter: It's like I told my sweet cancer baby, who's only got two weeks live unless we can come up with $500,000 for her life saving surgery and treatments, you really cannot believe a word anybody from the Internet types.  Being such a sweet angel as she is, Dahko'ta just doesn't understand why anybody would lie, like all those people that claimed they donated money for the $500,000 in surgery and treatments but never actually donated a dime.  Because of the lies, I don't believe she'll get the $500,000 in cancer surgery and treatments that she needs to live, but on the flip side, it means she also doesn't believe the doctors when they tell her she needs $500,000 in surgery and treatments to cure her cancer so that she won't die in two weeks, likely before her 8th birthday.

This is why you shouldn't use the internet to get a medical diagnosis.
