Well, this movie settles it. The AK is going to outlast the AR15.

Quantum Apostrophe: Primitive Screwhead: Quantum Apostrophe: Oh great, another Space Nutter "this mud ball is doomed" wankfest. As if the "technology" to build this floating paradise can't be used right here first...
/This is your religion, folks, like it or not

That's right, there isn't. All we have and ever will have is right here. The most complex project in the future won't be some fantasy tin can in orbit, it's going to be how to act like rational adults right here and build a better mud ball for everyone, not run away into fantasy land.

Can't be done. Change the percentages a bit, sure.

Trocadero: Seriously, how much of the story/plot do you need from the trailer? Remember the original Alien trailer? Or the Avengers trailer? Or the Blade Runner trailer? Hello?

Blade Runner is a bad example: it was pretty much a box office bomb. It probably could have used a kick-ass trailer.

Holy fark that looks awesome.  I'm going to go stand in line right now and throw $20 bills at the box office until they let me in.

tchau: Looking forward to it, but totally can't relate to the story in the trailer.

"They have what we can't have, so lets go blow their shiat up"

Yeah, I need a bit more than "poor downtrodden Matt Damon blows up the stuff of rich folks" to be interested in seeing the movie.  Because why?  Were the people on Elysium responsible for Earth being a shiathole?  Are they stealing something?  Did they blow up those smoking buildings or was that just the result of "poor working class" being their noble, angelic selves (because all poor people are noble and deserving, after all).

I checked wikipedia for the story and I'm not inspired.  The Earth sucks, the poor of Earth want to escape it and they "need" the medical technology of Elysium to save millions of lives.  The Earth is an overpopulated, crime-ridden piece of crap and you want to make them healthier so they live longer.  That'll solve the problem of overpopulation, for sure!

And they're angry about the strict immigration policies of Elysium.  Shocking, I know, that a luxury paradise designed and paid for by wealthy people does not want the impoverished labourer moving in.  How does said labourer think he can afford it, even if they let him in?  I don't imagine Elysium has working class suburbs.

I'm a working class 'eat the rich' type but this story is too moronic to stand.  It's like In Time's retarded younger brother.  At least the "evil rich" in In Time were actively evil.

What, no mentions of Deponia?

// Obsecure?
/// Goal!

Well, you don't get to be rich without hurting people, generally.

Without Blokamps' name on this, I wouldn't give this a huge amount of attention - this trailer doesn't motivate me to see the movie. But I loved District 9, so I'm willing to give this one a look for that value alone.

/Yes, special effects are outstanding. So were the ones in District 9
//Not really seeing the "Mass Effect" influence, unless it's the shape of SOME of the shuttles that people are referring to. And they're close enough to Star Trek to be more generic than specific, IMNSHO

Microsoft: You can't make Halo.
Neil: Ok. Hey, check out this totally not at all like Halo movie I made.
