Hollie Maea: tripleseven: Sure, maybe I painted with a wide brush, but the number of posts here stating how it is the most physically demanding sport just kind of agrees with my statement.

If "counting common misconceptions in a reasoned tone" is the mark of a "total douchebag" then I guess I am guilty.

I don't really have an axe to grind here. I haven't played every sport there is out there, but I have played a lot of them.  And ultimate has always been the most strenuous. Even when I was cycling enough to race, the fittest I have ever been, I would still get knocked out by a rigorous game of ultimate if I hadn't played for a few weeks.

I went back to school for a few years recently and became less active, but by no means sedentary. A couple of weeks ago I went a joined an ultimate pick up game and just about blew out my lungs.

That's just my experience. I don't think that makes me a douchebag, but whatever. A lot of people are picturing disc golf or throwing a frisbee around in the park, but it's not that.

No, I understand what ultimate is, can you imagine, I've (gasp) actually played a few games with some college league players?  Sure, this was like 15 years ago, but still...
Perhaps it's provincial, and I'm in the Northeast, but the distinct impression I got from the majority of the people I encountered was most of the people who were dedicated ultimate players, were ultra competitive, non jocks.  I mean this in the way, that they never played HS sports, for reasons of "not wanting to be associated with jocks" or lack of ability/acceptance.
Dunno, your mileage may vary.  I never really liked the hackey sack set either, and they're close cousins, and or the same people.

rickythepenguin: The DC Breeze are -180 vs the Hammerheads, but I think there's value there because the Hammerheads are more vertical attack and the Breeze are basically a defensive minded team.  I can see the 'Heads with an upset here as the Breeze don't have the speed to compete with the 'Heads.  Definitely take that.

in the Midwest, the Indiana AlleyCatz are a dark horse.  they open next week vs the Mechanix, but the Mechanix (-3.5) are overrated, the Catz' front line is impressive and not afraid to mix it up.

Friday's Cincinnati @ Windy City Wildfire is very compelling;  the Revolution are home favorites (-4.5) but I'll take the Wildfire here, easy.  It is a home game for the Rev, but I think the Wildfire are coming out hungry, so i'd take the Wildfire in an upset.  I like their passing and think they can score the disc and I really like them in transition.

be good to me lady luck, I lost my ass last night betting Michigan.  daddy needs the papers, yo.

The words are in english, but I'm not certain about the arrangement of said words. Some sort of code? Did ricky just activate a Soviet sleeper cell?
