I enjoyed the previous article about the abandoned mansions. It reminded me of a particular event during my younger days.
I was just a sprightly lad of 16. My friend and I had (I'm sad to say) broken into such a dwelling on a warm Spring night. It had been a dance hall/residence back in the late 40's.
We spent time in the great halls by candlelight. Imaging the shadows we were casting were the ghosts of party guests from those olden times. We made them sway, glide, and laugh with wild abandon. We could almost feel like we were actually channeling old souls from their eternal slumber to dance one last time.

My friend from that night recently passed. I miss him. He had the best farking weed.

/RIP, DW

I grew up near Croydon, and question the use of the word "mansion"

/what, did it have two bathrooms?

Clearly, the place was asking for it...sitting around all flammable and old.  Had it coming.
