Bob Denver (Gilligan) sounds pretty cool. from Wikipedia:

The music and lyrics for the theme song, "The Ballad of Gilligan's Isle", were written by Sherwood Schwartz and George Wyle. One version was used for the first season and another for the second and third. In the original song, the Professor and Mary Ann were referred to as "and the rest". Actors Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells were originally considered "second-billed co-stars", but with the growing popularity of their characters, their names were inserted into the lyrics.[6][7][8] Wells has said that star Bob Denver went to the studio executives to get Johnson and herself added to the opening credits.[9] The studio originally refused, stating it would be too costly to re-shoot and re-score the opening. Denver pointed out that his contract stated he could have his name anywhere he wanted in the credits, so they could move it to the end credits along with Johnson and Wells. The studio capitulated. Wells said that Denver never mentioned this to anyone in the cast, and she did not find out about it until years after the show ended.

I'm sailing away,
Set an open course for the virgin sea,
'Cause I've got to be free,
Free to face the life that's ahead of me,
On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard,
We'll search for tomorrow on every shore,
And I'll try, Oh Lord I'll try, to carry on

I look to the sea,
Reflections in the waves spark my memory,
Some happy, some sad,
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had,
We lived happily forever, so the story goes,
But somehow we missed out on the pot of gold
But we'll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head,
They sang to me this song of hope and this is what they said,
They said come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me lads,
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me,
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me baby,
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise,
We climbed aboard their starship, we headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me lads
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me.

CSB:  If you take the harbor tour of Newport Beach, they point out the haggard looking palm trees on the jetty that are in the opening scenes of the "Gilligan Island" theme, and on the way back at I think Pirate's Cove, they say that's where the scene of the shipwreck was filmed.

it was like touching the face of God.

Most Emily Dickenson poems can also be sung to the tune of, "The Yellow Rose of Texas" For example:

My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--
It gives a lovely light.

That is fairly large ship for one person to try and steal.

Engine room, probably diesel, but still shut down.   She would have gotten confused when the key didn't start it.

Actually, 99.9% of Farkers won't even read that. And if you were around when "slashies" came to prominence and you knew their true origin and hidden meanings, they would disgust you and you would never do that again.

Rufus Lee King: 1000 Ways to Dye: Fun Fact:

Emily Dickinson's poem "Because I Could Not Stop For Death" can be sang to the "Gilligan's Island" theme.

I think that would work with most of "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner", come to think of it:

"Water, water, everywhere, and all the boards did shrink!

Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink!

The very Deep did rot, O Christ! That ever this could be!

Yea, slimy things did walk with legs, upon the slimy sea!"

Well, it's a bit more nautical than Emily Dickinson, anyway.

Iron Maiden did it better.
