tgambitg: CtrlAltDestroy: I was in GoodWill recently and I saw a group of annoying high school kids come in, plop down in a couch, and start playing that song on their phone while giggling. I wish that someone would have smacked them for it.

On a side note, my local GoodWill is awesome. For example, I picked up around ~$1,000 worth of boxsets for about $150. Suddenly a large amount of boxsets appeared in the glass case. Either someone unloaded his collection or someone was pissed off and unloaded someone else's collection.

Yeah... Say what you will about Goodwill/Thrift Shop/Second Hand stores... but there are some amazing deals to be had. Especially if the staff isn't knowledgeable or just plain doesn't care about the pricing. I was in a Buybacks (used CDs/DVDs/BRs/Games/etc) store the other day and picked up a Bluray box set of Hellsing Ultimate 1-8 for like $20... When the 1-4 and 5-8 usually are separate for about $40 each, depending on if you can find them. But then again they had a DVD copy of Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins for like $60... (I was half tempted to see what they would offer me for my copy of it, considering I bought it at a garage sale for $0.50, and it was in better condition than the one they had) So I guess it can be hit or miss.

I call it monkey pricing when something is priced an absurd amount at a thrift store, and I just imagine it's an actual monkey in the back pricing items. But I did pick up 2 graphing calculators last week for 99 cents each, and some binoculars for $10 that I could sell for $150.

iaazathot: My wife got that song recently.  It is not good music, but is farking hillarious and fun to listen to.

And it will lead people to listen to more of Macklemore's stuff, and realize he's really farking good.

What's the point of having an SO if you can't torture them with your ear worms.

My husband has tolerated the day of Brave imitations (eef ye had a chance to do the deeshes, wood ye?) and the afternoon of spoofing the Friday song.  In return I have put up with his white boy fake gangster sayings (he says "ganger" btw).  It's part of being in love.

IIRC, there's been an uptick in patronage at thrift shops after this song came out. So, kids, sing away. Those shops provide jobs for folks who are down on their luck and bargains galore for everyone.  I think the song is HIGHlarious.

For years I've rolled my car up and dropped stuff off while the local urban ladies came in to shop. Now that I'm unemployed, I know I can go pop some tags as need be should my stint in the bread line continues on more than six months or so.

"Ah he got da velcros!"

Most of the boxsets I picked up were anime boxsets. Which as you seem to know, are farking expensive. Many were CE boxsets and some individual titles are out of print, too. They were all immaculate. Whoever had these things took damn good care of them.

There were a few that were too expensive, relatively speaking, at first. So I waited a week and the price dropped in half. I was speaking with the employees and apparently they were using eBay as a pricing guide. I mentioned that people tend to ask for too much on eBay and that Amazon was a better price guide. The next round of anime that made it's way there was much more reasonably priced. Ha.

At the Goodwill near where I used to go there seemed to be 2 different people pricing things. One would price things way too high and the other would price things pretty cheaply. It was amusing sometimes to see the wildly different pricing between similar things.

I really should look up other thrift stores and flea markets in my area.
