Is this new thing where people pose in front of glass, where lions claw at little pieces of possible lion food, otherwise known as babies.  Or gorillas like in the photo, is this even fair  to the animals.

I will grant you that the large environment with glass are better then some of those smaller cages I remember seeing.

We had one of the silverbacks in the Topeka Zoo who loved to scare the crap out of little kids. It was hilarious. He would wait until there was a good sizing group of them and then charge the glass wall & slap his palm against it really hard. All the little kids would scream and jump while he walked back to the spot he had been sitting in.

I don't know if gorillas can chuckle but it sure looked like he did each time.
