Cyclonic Cooking Action: 500 feet from Holy Jim trail, I bet at least 30 people a day mountain bike there. And thats a low guess. The trail head usually has at least a few cars parked there at any given daylight hour.

kindms: Having been caught out in the wilderness overnight without water etc. I'm having a hard time envisioning 2 semi healthy adults going from lost to hallucinating in under 24 hours. Especially ones that would have stayed put after calling for help. Why would they leave the area where they called for help ?

I never leave the house unprepared.1)OR Bivy Sack2) MSR Water filter3) Surefire firestarter and some powdered magnesium,4) Snickers Candy bars, jerkey and other dehydrated foods. light weight packed full of fat, salt and calories5)minimum I carry my mountain hardware outdoor bag6)Compass,7)REI whistle (audible for a mile)8)headlamp w/extra batteries9) book, something who cares. you need to keep your mind occupied10) Flares11) Small first aid kit, including Aspirin, penicillin, Ibuporfen, bandaids, Ethanol and Iodine wipes and suture kit.12) fixed blade Gerber knife and also a multitool and ducktape.That is my survival kit. I am missing a few things but I have the rest under control. also.
