Dr Dreidel: Until yesterday, I'd never heard Ms Thatcher speak (even though I'm 31).

Good LORD, she sounds like every rich guy's wife from every 80s flick. Her voice OOZES contempt for "the little people" (which I can imagine her saying in a condescending tone). At least Reagan had the charm - was Britain really just struck by how much of a stereotype she was?

// and Palin - still - isn't fit to munch her fartbox

She was a middle-class butcher's daughter. You're simply making the common American mistake of thinking that anything that sounds English is aristocratic.

As has been said elsewhere, she was Nanny writ large. Nannies are not paid to be nice; they are paid to enforce discipline.

There's a world of difference between Michael Caine, Eddie Izzard and Maggie Thatcher. I made the comment before seeing the other one noting she forced that accent - likely to appear as aristocratic as possible. She sounds like an American imitating the hoitiest-toitiest Britishest most pinkie-in-the-airiest accent EVAR.

I know from British accents - I correctly identified my old band's guitar player's accent as Welsh at our first rehearsal.

// she merely ADOPTED that accent; Tony Blair was born in it, molded by it - he didn't hear cockney til he was already a man

Didn't Thatcher refuse to even meet with Palin?

Why does anyone go to Coulter for facts?

That story is pretty tough to verify--it's pretty much speculation.

I have a ton of trouble believing that a woman of Margaret Thatcher's stature would see Sarah Palin as someone she'd like to be associated with.

Another middle-class oik aping the manners of his betters.

Elocution aside, if Thatch patch thought Palink had potential, I guess she overlooked her resignation as governor.

The mods posted this when Ted Kennedy died but must have forgotten this time so I'll do it for them...

I kind of would like to have seen a daisy chain between Sarah Palin and Margaret Thatcher.

Is that wrong?

Throw in Hillary Clinton and you have a deal.

Why is Sarah Palin even involved?  Since she quit her post in Alaska, she hasn't run for public office but acts like a politician who calls her constituents "fans."  What exactly does she do other than essentially proposition her self and image to the highest bidder?  Sounds like Sarah is America's highest paid escort!  See how down and dirty she'll get for the money at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/06/ecstasy-of-sarah-palin_15. h tml
