What the hell was he thinking?

Lets go look at my guns, that are loaded, with kids...

He should go to jail for a very long time.

I got that. And then I clicked it again and it worked. Then I clicked again and it disappeared. Not sure what's going on with it.

Story just in case:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Authorities say a 4-year-old boy grabbed a loaded gun at a family cookout and accidentally shot and killed the wife of a Tennessee sheriff's deputy.

Investigators say Wilson County Deputy Daniel Fanning on Saturday was showing his weapons to a relative in a bedroom of his Lebanon home when the toddler came in and picked up a gun off the bed. Sheriff Robert Bryan says the weapon discharged, hitting 48-year-old Josephine Fanning.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The child is not related to her or her husband.

Bryan says the shooting was a terrible accident and that within seconds of Fanning placing the gun on the bed, the toddler picked it up.

The gun was not Fanning's service weapon and the sheriff says the deputy's weapons are normally stored in a safe.

Since when are law enforcement officers ever held to the same standard as the rest of us?

The deputy should have kept his weapon in his pants.

Guns don't kill people.

Children of stupid cops kill people.

I hope that toddler gets tried with first degree murder, as an adult.

That'll send a message to those ankle biting, finger painting hooligans: Play time IS OVER.

/cop should spend some time in a place where locks function as they're supposed to

Since never.

I don't want to hear any goddamn excuses about how it's a tragic mistake and he'll have to live with it for the rest of his life. Lots of people commit crimes they wish they could take back. This twat isn't special; he should go to farking prison. But, because he's a dirty pig, I doubt he'll even be charged.

Since he is a cop, supposedly an expert with weapons, at mininum he is quilty of negligence.

2013-04-08 09:17:47 PM

"Well, it got so that every piss-ant prairie punk who thought he could shoot a gun would ride into town to try out the Waco Kid. I must have killed more men than Cecil B. DeMille. It got pretty gritty. I started to hear the word "draw" in my sleep.

Then one day, I was just walking down the street when I heard a voice behind me say, "Reach for it, mister!" I spun around... and there I was, face to face with a six-year old kid. Well, I just threw my guns down and walked away.

Little bastard shot me in the ass!!! So I limped to the nearest saloon, crawled inside a whiskey bottle... and I've been there ever since."

If only there was an armed man who's trained with fire arms and protecting people who could have been present to prevent this from happening.

And, obviously, if the woman was armed herself this would never have happened.

Easy.  For starters, Look for gun shot residue on the child's hand and  to match angle and trajectory with her height.

Yeah, like the cop is going to be charged, especially since it wasn't his service weapon.   They're going to do a token review of things at the DA's office and just say this guy has suffered enough losing his wife and move on.

And so taking the story at face value -- which I presume presents this in the best possible light -- he's guilty of negligent homicide and demonstrably unqualified to handle a deadly weapon.

Somehow I'm less than confident that anyone will even to revoke his right to carry a gun, let alone send him to prison.

Gun storage/handling laws usually exempt LEOs, so it's not clear he did anything illegal.

Unless, of course he actually her himself.  Even then, I think Drew Peterson established you're good u Gil you kill a second wife.

Especially the little children.
If we don't give them their own, they'll just pick up the ones that highly trained professionals leave laying around.

This one incident proves that cops should not be allowed to own guns. Look how many people they kill each year 'protecting' us. How is it protecting us to shoot us? We need to wake up and take the guns away from them specifically before we do anything else, we'll be safer.

I am tired of these lazy, no-good children ruining this country.  What is wrong with toddlers these days?  I want to know what we're doing about the problem?  It seems like every time I see a story like this on Fark, I can tell you before I even click the link that it's some young kid between 3 and 16 -- and then the Fark whiteknights turn the hate up when you bring this up in a discussion, like I'm ageist for pointing out facts.  Well, I don't care what you assholes say, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, sometimes it's a duck.
