Aarontology: It's like these people are just now realizing that capitalism is amoral and doesn't give a fark about your ideology as long as they can profit from it.
impaler: My mother constantly gets mail at her house begging her for money to fight the good fight. More often than not, the groups begging her for help have "Tea Party" in their name and they are all scams.Don't you hate it when other con artists con your own marks?
vernonFL: Conservative media had a tendency to shoot itself in the foot by focusing more on generating outrage than on finding facts. "We do our cause more harm than good if we get outrageously outraged over every slight and grievance," Erickson saidI agree with Erick Erickson?!? Hold me.
Poopspasm: But without irrational fearmongering bullshiat, where will the Republican Party be?
Esc7: A very interesting read is one of the article's linked by Rick Perlstein on The Baffler:http://www.thebaffler.com/past/the_long_conBasically an in depth takedown of the whole conservative lying paranoid rumor machine. It is over half a year old by now though so obviously focuses on Romney, but the lessons it teaches are timeless. (Republicans depend on Base Republicans being ludicrously gullible and uninformed.)

PreMortem: the freedom community
Philip Francis Queeg: FreedomWorks' Matt Kibbe said, "It's sad to hear that GOP insiders are disparaging the freedom community behind closed doors..."Oh, FFS. These people are simply ridiculous.

theknuckler_33: Some Farker many months ago post a link in a politics thread to a really interesting piece analyzing the fact that the right wing media is largely a vehicle to fleece the gullible. It was a really long and detailed piece and I wish my google-fu was acute enough to find it now. I can't say it was exactly 'eye opening', but there was a lot of interesting nuance in it that made it a worthwhile read.

Sandusky Knows Best: i didnt realize fw:fw:fw emails were still big. if i were to look at family member's facebook pages i would assume they've gone to a more visual forum there.
anfrind: 1. With e-mail, it's easier to control who gets it, thus reducing the odds that someone will tell you that you're wrong.
dookdookdook: Corvus: [i151.photobucket.com image 600x400]And this, students, is why we use .png nowadays instead of .jpg./I'm 75% sure that says "Visceral Giving" and "Calculated Giving"?
Corvus: [i151.photobucket.com image 600x400]Even your party leaders think you are scared sheep.
MisterRonbo: Two of the GOPs Presidential contenders were in it only to generate book sales. Gingrich even managed to "campaign" in Hawaii for his anniversary.Anonymous needs to get some of these groups' mailing lists and give them to someone who will run a troll campaign. Solicit money for "freedom!" and give the proceeds to Planned Parenthood.
