I don't think using a "Words With [Blank]" meme is particularly stupid.  The content is what makes it stupid.  According to the website, the "Vacay" part refers to:

Elizabeth Colbert Busch has spent the last 2½ months campaigning for Congress while collecting a taxpayer-funded paycheck from Clemson University. Originally she told reporters and South Carolina families that she was on a leave of absence since February but this week we found out that her "leave" is actually a taxpayer-funded vacation.

Is the NRCC saying she didn't earn that vacation time through the normal benefits process?  And who the fark is the NRCC to judge how she spends her vacation time?

The other two points are basic anti-Obama boilerplate that don't go beyond "she's a Democrat and hey, maybe that'll work against her in South Carolina!"  Sad waste of an attack ad idea.

Yep, no potential for meme abuse there.

I'm stunned that they'd pick at that thread, given Sanford's taxpayer funded trips to fark his mistress.

But, there pretty much is no level to which they'll refuse to stoop.

Never attribute to malice what is adequately explained by stupidity.  They probably didn't think that far ahead.

From Clemson:

"(Elizabeth Colbert Busch) is on a leave of absence, which began Jan. 21. She immediately entered a period of annual leave, to which she was entitled. That leave period ended March 26. In other words, she used all her paid leave (vacation time). From March 27 she has not receive payment from Clemson University. Furthermore, she pays hers and the university's portion of her health insurance."

apparently she campaigned using vacation time and is now on unpaid leave

It's OK, guys - Sanford "agonized over" taking taxpayer funded trips overseas.

Sure, he still took the trips...but it was so difficult for him, you guys.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24164.html

At his news conference in Columbia Wednesday, Sanford said he paid for his most recent trip with his own money. "It was my own ticket," he told reporters.

But sometime after his 2002 election as governor, Sanford traveled to Argentina on the dime of the South Carolina Department of Commerce.

The trip was in June 2008, after he met the woman. Sanford said Wednesday he met her eight years ago, though a romantic relationship did not develop until one year ago.

Sanford also traveled to China and Brazil through the state commerce department, and a review of its records late last year by state press found that taxpayers footed a total bill of $21,488 in Sanford travel. The governors' office also spent $1,976 in travel for Sanford, according to the review.

...

As a member of the U.S. House in 1995, well before the time before he said he met the woman, Sanford traveled with other lawmakers on a "co-del" to Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

A fiscal hawk, Sanford at the time said he agonized over whether the trip, which cost taxpayers $10,000, was a proper expenditure of public funds.

"I know politically it's not the right thing ever to go on any trip," Sanford told Charleston's Post and Courier newspaper after returning. "I was skeptical [about joining the delegation], but I learned a lot," he said, adding he went at the request of then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Sanford made a second taxpayer-paid trip with members of Congress three years later.

In 1997, Sanford pointed to the U.S. embassy in Argentina as an example of wasteful State Department spending when he was trying to cut the department's budget.

It's cute, watching the funddies trip all over themselves trying to win this election. Darn near foaming at the mouth.

I think I know the look of a dying political party now....

From the comments:

Right-wingers should never try humor. They don't have the necessary self-awareness or sense of irony to pull it off. Their policies are virtually all mean-spirited, punitive, controlling, and/or vindictive. They're just not funny. Ever.

2013-04-08 12:04:56 PM
I'm still stunned that of all the people to run against Colbert-Bush, the Republican Party is backing Sanford, whose behavior suggests that he's either a pathological liar or a sociopath with no qualms about abusing his power and position for his own personal interests.

Which wouldn't draw so much attention among Republicans IF the guy hadn't made international headlines for his ridiculous lies AND his decision to double down on them when he got caught.

It makes you wonder if Anthony Weiner has a chance at a comeback...

I negotiated for one full month, and I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to roll over (I think it's 150%, but it might only be 100%). With a government job (Clemson's a public uni), they'll often let you pile up an obscene amount of vacation days, and I suspect she, as a professor, starts with a healthy amount.

I don't know what all that means, but Benghazi therefore libs bad and such as.
