The game should be played in Canadia. On the canal in Ottawa is the epitome, but, anywhere up there is both dependable and good for the sport.

ISO15693: Good grief... another game of mediocre legendary east coast midwestern teams?

What are they trying to do, kill the whole concept?

Fixed. You're welcome.

St. Louis' Busch Stadium needs to be on the short list with a Blues/Chicago Blackhawks matchup.

Troy McClure: Vance Uppercut: The only two remaining teams with 2-color jerseys.

Don't forget this recent reversion to two colors.

You'd think after a few years the Chinese would stop making terrible knockoffs.

Or that Farkers would stop linking to knockoff pics.

Yeesh, can we just bomb China already?

People on the West coast think anything East of the Rockies is East coast.

YES to both of these, outrageously awesome.  I've already got many fellow Hawks fans on board with a road trip to St Louis.  (if/when it happens) I'll go on a to road trip to MN to see that game too, that would be a great game.

swahnhennessy: cameroncrazy1984: That will be the death knell of the Winter Classic, then.

God forbid they hold one in an interesting location. Surely it means doom for all of us.

I'd love to see a summery-tropical sort of outdoor game.  It would remind me of that NHL Hitz game for Xbox/PS2 where you played in all sorts of crazy locations.  I want to see sun and PALM TREES around the rink just for laughs.

The best part of the Winter Classic is HBO's 24/7. That's an awesome show, I loved the Rangers/Flyers one, can't wait for this one as a Leafs fan.

I'm gonna say dumb to both of these.

Just stick with using one of the actual designs each team has used before instead of reinventing a classic look.

It's as dumb as looking at a P.T. Cruiser and thinking it's a throwback design to the cars of yesteryear.

The problem with this "unveiling" is that these jerseys were already leaked last year when the game was still scheduled for 2013. Some of them even popped up on Ebay!

Wait, are Toronto and Detroit not in the Eastern Standard Time zone? (Sanity check with internets) - okay, yes, they are.

When speaking in an NHL context, I'm going to continue to refer to eastern time zone teams as "east coast teams" and western time zone teams as "west coast teams", regardless of how much this riles up autistic farkers. This isn't an unusual convention, geography Nazis.

We have to fly over an hour to reach the east coast.  We're nowhere near.  We're in the Eastern Time Zone for historical reasons only.

Been saying that for years, a Heritage Classic on the canal would be amazing.

No power rankings thread, again? FWIW, I have been maintaining the graph in case one actually gets greenlit.

Well.. ok.. Detroit IS in the "Western Conference".. Okay fine. You win.  Detroit is a west coast team. :)

Daily playoff chances as of the morning of Tuesday, April 9, 2013

East/% chance of playoffs/% chance of current seed - parenthesis is the previous day
1) Pittsburgh/In/60% (63%)
2) Montreal/100% (100)/33 (38%)
3) Washington/79.8 (79.1%)/74 (74%)
4) Boston/100 (100%)/53 (60%) increased chance of #2 seed
5) Toronto/99.8 (99.2%)/73 (63%)
6) Ottawa/94.4 (94%)/45 (38%)
7) Rangers/80.9 (87.1%)/34 (32%)
8) Islanders/65.6 (63.7%)/28 (31%)
---
9) Jets/30.1 (28.6)/ 15
10) Devils/20.3 (19)/19
11) Flyers/13.5 (12.6)/17
12) Sabres/7.6 (7)/20
13) Lightning/6.5 (6.2)/23
14) Hurricanes/1.5 (3.5)/45
15) Panthers/0.0/87

West
1) Blackhawks/In/98 (99)
2) Ducks/In(100)/95 (95)
3) Canucks/99.8 (98.9)/70 (62)
4) Kings/99.7 (99.6)/ 52 (53)
5) Wild/97.9 (97.1)/16 (13)
6) Sharks/96.8 (95.6)/25 (24)
7) Blues/96.7 (95.6)/ 24 (22)
8) Red Wangs/65.3 (58.7)/ 41 (35)
---
9) Coyotes/15.9 (24.5)/23
10) Stars (11)/ 12.5 (10.6) /20
11) Oilers (10) /9.4 (14.7)/21
12) Blue Jackets/4.3 (3.4)/23
13) Predators/1.5 (1.4)/34
14) Flames/0.0/72
15) Avalanche/0.0/87

"In" =/= 100%, as it rounds up. For instance with Anaheim they have a 100% chance of making the playoffs as its 99.999999% and rounded up. Very few permutations would see them losing all but one game and the Coyotes going 10-0

The fringe teams should be rooting for the following on Tuesday night (almost universally applies): Flyers, Sabres, Habs, Kings. the rest are toss ups/irrelevant.

Would you say Salt Lake City was on the West Coast?

Also, what is this "western time zone" thing you're talking about?
