Cool beans. I'll be forwarding this to a friend who had four tickets to this year's cancelled Winter Classic. He's still on the fence about whether to defer the tickets to next year.

Both are cool, but I like like the Detroit one just a little more.

How 'bout having the players use ol' timey equipment as well?
Leather shin pads, wooden sticks, no protective melon helmet, Victorian oven mitts, etc.

I'm just waiting for the Winter Classic to come to Minnesota. I guarantee you all 40,000 seats will be filled with Minnesotans in -10 degree weather talking about how warm it is compared to a "real" winter like in 1999

Am I the only who thinks the Leafs one is not good looking? The sleeves and the oversized logo make this version look like pajamas. I think the 1960s version would have been a much better choice.

It's pretty much an open secret that the next Winter Classic will probably be played at Dodger Stadium. They would have gotten it for 2014 if it wasn't for the lockout.

Jerseys. jersey's. Some other stupid spelling of the word "sweater". Even if one yields to the use of the word jersey, that forum is an illustration of modern education, in a microcosm.

An apostrophe catastrophe; not too mention the other excuses for English construction that people have posted their.

Why, because some shiatty original 6 team isn't playing?  Kings played an outdoor exhibition game in Vegas back in the 90's.  Granted Gretzky was playing, but hockey does survive when taken out of the northeast.

The only two remaining teams with 2-color jerseys.
The only team that hasn't missed the playoffs since the last lockout (other than san jose) vs the only team who hasn't made it.

Probably the two teams with the most global and historic relevance.

/nobody likes Montreal outside of western Quebec
/nobody likes the pens outside 1990-1995 and 2008-2013.

Er.  That would take a LOT of planning, and a lot of cooperation from the weather.

Right next to the Soo Locks?  Far enough north that it's likely to be frozen.  Make it a TV-only game, with only enough grandstands for locals:  https://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&q=46.500556,-84.361111&ie=UTF8&ll=46 . 500519,-84.361095&spn=0.038107,0.078278&z=14&vpsrc=6

The best part of the Winter Classic is HBO's 24/7. That's an awesome show, I loved the Rangers/Flyers one, can't wait for this one as a Leafs fan.

I'm gonna say dumb to both of these.

Just stick with using one of the actual designs each team has used before instead of reinventing a classic look.

It's as dumb as looking at a P.T. Cruiser and thinking it's a throwback design to the cars of yesteryear.

Daily playoff chances as of the morning of Tuesday, April 9, 2013

East/% chance of playoffs/% chance of current seed - parenthesis is the previous day
1) Pittsburgh/In/60% (63%)
2) Montreal/100% (100)/33 (38%)
3) Washington/79.8 (79.1%)/74 (74%)
4) Boston/100 (100%)/53 (60%) increased chance of #2 seed
5) Toronto/99.8 (99.2%)/73 (63%)
6) Ottawa/94.4 (94%)/45 (38%)
7) Rangers/80.9 (87.1%)/34 (32%)
8) Islanders/65.6 (63.7%)/28 (31%)
---
9) Jets/30.1 (28.6)/ 15
10) Devils/20.3 (19)/19
11) Flyers/13.5 (12.6)/17
12) Sabres/7.6 (7)/20
13) Lightning/6.5 (6.2)/23
14) Hurricanes/1.5 (3.5)/45
15) Panthers/0.0/87

West
1) Blackhawks/In/98 (99)
2) Ducks/In(100)/95 (95)
3) Canucks/99.8 (98.9)/70 (62)
4) Kings/99.7 (99.6)/ 52 (53)
5) Wild/97.9 (97.1)/16 (13)
6) Sharks/96.8 (95.6)/25 (24)
7) Blues/96.7 (95.6)/ 24 (22)
8) Red Wangs/65.3 (58.7)/ 41 (35)
---
9) Coyotes/15.9 (24.5)/23
10) Stars (11)/ 12.5 (10.6) /20
11) Oilers (10) /9.4 (14.7)/21
12) Blue Jackets/4.3 (3.4)/23
13) Predators/1.5 (1.4)/34
14) Flames/0.0/72
15) Avalanche/0.0/87

"In" =/= 100%, as it rounds up. For instance with Anaheim they have a 100% chance of making the playoffs as its 99.999999% and rounded up. Very few permutations would see them losing all but one game and the Coyotes going 10-0

The fringe teams should be rooting for the following on Tuesday night (almost universally applies): Flyers, Sabres, Habs, Kings. the rest are toss ups/irrelevant.

Also, what is this "western time zone" thing you're talking about?
