No, I didn't. I'm saying both sides run jokes into the ground. Whether those jokes are funny or not is for people to decide for themselves.

cameroncrazy1984: skullkrusher: cameroncrazy1984: skullkrusher: why does it have to "require" it for it to be possible to be amused but not to find something funny?

Because they mean the same thing? For something to be amusing but not funny you have to change the definition of one or both words. That's how synonyms work.

nope. They don't mean the same thing. The sets of amusing and funny things are not identical. Something CAN be both amusing and funny, funny and amusing however, something does not have to be funny to be amusing. Again, tennis balls against the wall.

Logical operators like "or" mean things.

Oh, I get it. You don't understand the definition of "synonym" either

I hope you've enjoyed pretending not to understand English. I just finished Portal 2. Very funny AND amusing game. Probably written by liberals. Too bad they don't seem to come around Fark too often. This place could use some funny liberals.

WTF? Your daughter has two masters degrees, she's a babysitter and your concern is Obamacare?!?!?!?!?! She got two masters degrees to do the job of a 13 year-old girl?

I have the feeling that is made up and/or trolling.   Some one is throwing shiat on the wall to see if the right wingers question it or just instinctively yell DAMN YOU FARTBAMA.

Noticed this in real life; when groups of Real American Conservatives talk politics, it's just random biatching and making up of things like they were talking about fishing stories.  I think the idea is to just say stupidier and stupidier shiat until they can "out the liberal who defends Obama."  That or they're just bullshiat artists who like to talk.

sugardave: Okay, then.  The only time I see their tired shiat is if someone quotes them.  Asking someone to judge is someone is being sincere in their Fark posts is pretty subjective don't you think?  I could say "yes, I think the mouthbreathers that pop in and post their bullshiat are sincere" and you could say "no, they're not."  At the end of the day, they are representing the views of GOPpers to whomever is looking.  If you think they are hurting "your team" to the point you have to whine about the jokes, maybe you should do more to muzzle them.  Otherwise, let them pound it loud and proud and let the snark fall where it may.   And limiting to Fark is a bit disingenuous, isn't it?  I mean, GOPpers are ALL over the place spouting shiat like this ALL THE TIME.  Let me guess....it's not acceptable to use experiences outside of Fark (where the resident GOPpers may have become SLIGHTLY less vocal) to make fun of GOPpers?

Me thinks it's bullshiat.  Most people don't get a bs in 4 years anymore.  For many majors it take 4.5-5 years standard.  Somehow this person wants us to believe her daughter was able to get 2 masters by age 23, yet isn't able to find a job that pays her enough to afford health insurance?  Bullshiat.

Of course, she may have done a bs in studio arts, and her masters might be in liberal arts and fine arts, but that reminds me of the lines I've been hearing from teabagger relatives that want to "round up" or even "nuke" OWS camps, with the justification that these stupid people wasted their time/money on worthless degrees and now they want us to pay for their mistakes.... or some other similar, but equally disgusting and vile talking point that Rush trotted out for them to repeat ad nauseum.

Of course, there's also the possibility that she got two masters degrees from a place that isn't accredited and therefore none of it means jack other than "I get fooled into wasting resources that are available to me and are at my discretion to use wisely," which doesn't sit well with most would-be employers.

"TriCare Young Adults" is health insurance for adult children of military members.  The most expensive plan is $200 a month, and there's cheaper options.

make me some tea: This should be about as successful as their attempts to make right-slanted versions of The Daily Show, Wikipedia, Media Matters, etc. They only attract a small audience of those seeking their own echo chamber, while everyone else rolls their eyes and moves on.

Liberals are by nature innovators, the people who come up with new ideas. It's pretty much the definition of liberal.

Yep, this is just another room addition to the "echo chamber".

But for entertainment purposes let's just imagine that it is as successful as the GOP hopes in attracting new page visitors and getting their message out to new audiences. Will that have the results they hope for? Or will it just cause their message to be further rejected by an even larger audience? They aren't changing the policies that were soundly rejected by the American people during the last POTUS election; just the packaging.

Liberals are by nature innovators, the people who come up with new ideas. It's pretty much the definition of liberal.

Liberals are also the better comedians. Liberals understand that the purpose of humor is to make you laugh and feel good; to draw out emotions of happiness which are positive emotions. Any negative connotations towards political figures is just a bye-product of the ridiculing of the actions of the political figure themselves, and not a direct personal attack. Conservatives do not understand this. The purpose of their attempts at "humor" is to get you to dislike someone and incite a small bit of rage towards that person; basically negative emotions. The "punch lines" rely on personal animosity towards the subject of the joke, and if this animosity is not held by the "audience" then the joke falls flat. If you do share the animosity; rather than making you happy and relieving stress the conservative "humor" leaves you angry and pissed off. While it seems to work well for the "base", it is not a very good way to attract new people to your cause. All it does is make the GOP look grumpy, petty, and bitter to people who do not enjoy being pissed off all the time.

Even if she did get her bachelors in four years, it is still bullshiat. No respectable school is going to allow somebody to go straight into a masters program right after graduation without previous work experience, let alone do TWO graduate programs at the same time.  If she really does have two masters then those degrees are worth less than the paper they are printed on.

Saners: No respectable school is going to allow somebody to go straight into a masters program right after graduation without previous work experience

Depends on the field, no?

Business schools typically don't want to take MBA students unless they have a few years of real-world experience, but in a lot of STEM programs it's not unusual to go directly from undergraduate to graduate -- or even have overlap between the two, such as a 5-year program that earns the student both a BS and an MS in a given subject.

I don't agree with that.  I know several people that are either in a graduate or professional program at UW-Madison, or who have already completed one of those programs, that went straight from undergrad with no real world experience besides an internship under their belt.  I also have worked with people that went straight into grad school at MSOE, and UI-Champaign-Urbana.

I don't agree with the practice one bit, but there are respected schools that do this on a regular basis.  All three of those are top tier engineering schools.  There aren't a lot of things more frustrating than someone who can model the magnetic fields and thermal characteristics of a 100MVA oil-filled transformer using some esoteric software, but somehow don't know how to get a thermocouple in the damn thing to check that they're model is accurate, or how to operate a thermal imager (little more than a camera that sees heat) to see if the hot spots on the chassis line up with their model.
