One of the best episodes of the season? Psh.. Peter Dinklage was the most entertaining part. Justin Timberlake's episode was FAR better.

melissa mccarthy is like will ferrell - she commits utterly to the bit without hesitation or fear of embarrassment. and that's the key to comedy.

/'peter drunklage" was hilarious too.

Drunk Uncle reminds me of a guy I work with based on the hand movements alone.

I was expecting more personal verbal attacks. More like the insulting waitress bit last week. I give them an E for effort, could have been better.

I agree, subby. Honestly one of the funniest episodes ever. Dare I say funnier than Timberlake's? Yes, I dare.Timberlake is funny like "haha that us so awesome", whereas McCarthy is genuine high level comedy.Incredible amount of laugh out loud moments last night, awesome episode :)

Was it me or did Rodman flub "Live from NY, it's Saturday night?"

It's not you. He flubbed it. Probably just got hot and bothered thinking about the Kim Jong Un look-alike standing next to him.

she's hilarious, she was the funniest character in the very funny Bridesmaids. A preponderance of fat cells doesn't make a person not funny. See for example Gabriel Iglesias, Louie Anderson, the woman who played Vicar of Dibley ...

\hopes you are not one of those guys who fervently avows that no woman is funny, and when shown a funny woman, either declares that is not a woman or willingly makes a break with reality to preserve one's misogynist belief.

yes, only skinny blondes with big tits can be funny.

see...  I don't find her funny because when I see her I think "there's that fat woman from Gilmore Girls" and I tune her out.

well, that, and the fact that I don't think she has ever made me laugh in anything I have seen her in.  The "oh look, a fat girl acting like she isn't fat" schtick just doesn't do it for me.

/there are very few really funny female comedians because all the boyfriend\period jokes have been told and that is what most of them rely on.  Kathleen Madigan is funny.  Sarah Silverman is funny occasionally.  Can't really think of any more.  No, Tina Fey is not funny and neither is Amy Poehler.  Jane Lynch can be funny but her whole thing is the "unattractive possibly ghey woman that says crazy things" so sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  There is a reason that the best comedies ever made don't star female comedians. Not ONE female comedian comes close to Eddie Murphy or Robin Williams or even Seinfeld in their prime.  NOT ONE.

Peter Drunklage was great. I loved how his "IRS" line almost turned the audience.

There is NOTHING funny about skinny blondes with big tits. Skinny blondes with big tits is serious business.

Yeah, the 'Chief Pays No Bills' line got them turning, then the IRS line almost went over the line.

I absolutely was losing it during Drunk Uncle.

And I agree, Subby. It was definitely one of the best episodes in a while

I've been a fan of Melissa McCarthy since Gilmore Girls. She's a gifted comedian.

Watch the first couple of episodes before they toned down the constant pratfalls her character used to have. She's got amazing timing, and as mentioned fully commits to a bit.

the only part I saw was 'Drunk Uncle' and yes it was pretty damned funny.

'Chief Pays No Bills' indeed.

But then I'm conservative/libertarian-ish so that automatically makes me a 'racist'.

There were a couple week bits (the ham one), but overall it was pretty good and possibly the best in a weak season.  Whoever it was early that said her skill is she commits to the bit is right; she does the physical comedy very well, like as in the monologue.

The Pizza Eater sketch is one of the most finely crafted sketches I've seen on American television in a long, long time.

Thats what I love about McCarthy, she goes all out for a bit. Not just try to be wacky and embarrass yourself, she commits %100. Too bad her show can't use her full talent but ive only seen one ep so I could be wrong.
She will be a SNL 5 timer for sure

She pretty much just copied Andy Dick's character, right down to riding a golf cart through the players.

It's a dumb movie, but parts of it are hilarious.  Andy did a pretty good job, I thought.

I'm sorry your husband has no sense of humor. There really should be a foundation for that.

Speaking solely of stand-up, I humbly submit Ellen Degeneres.  A couple of her specials, not to mention quite a few bits on her show, are as good as any top tier male comic, and I'm usually on the "women aren't funny" side of this debate right there with you.

I submit Maria Bamford. She does a bit about female comedians that skewered them so hard that I have a hard time enjoying your average female comic anymore. Plus she's just funny regardless.

I just can't get into Maria Bamford's comedy.  She strikes me as ligitmately crazy, like "stab in you in the chest in the middle of the night while you're sleeping" crazy.  Also, the little girl voice drives me insane.

I'm guessing in your world Mae West never existed.

Sheesh.

Ellen is ok.  She is nothing next to the great male comedians.

the ability to act in a skit means little.  any fool can do slapstick.  it takes no effort to fall down.  people talk about her "impeccable comic timing" and other BS but I have seen miles of that show and she was by far one of the lest funny bits.  oh look, she's dressed in a curtain.  That crap is corny as hell and really wasn't all that funny even then.  Best thing that came out of that show was Mama's Family.

As far as Mae West...  funnier things have been crapped out of my asshole.
