FTFA: The region's proud creed of independence ignores the crucial role the federal government plays in its prosperity....What rankles locals is the indiscriminate nature of the sequester, which cut programs across the board without weighing individual merits. But therein lies the perennial rub: Cuts that are welcomed in the abstract are not always appreciated when they hit home.

So I'm supposed to feel bad for the guy who had to spend $2,000 of his own money to help guarantee $100,000 in sales? Yeah, it sure does suck that the Federal Government wasn't there to help out that guys profit margin with my money.

Just wait till the government is completely out of their life. It would be a real shame if Canadian Barbarians come down from the north and steal all the women.

Even though most here favor limited government, this isn't quite what they had in mind. Conservatism, in 15 words.

It's not that residents don't want to reduce the deficit. Washington needs "to grow the economy, not the government," said Jay Linderman, who owns an Italian restaurant on Cody's main drag and grudgingly gave $200 to pay for plowing. What rankles locals is the indiscriminate nature of the sequester, which cut programs across the board without weighing individual merits.

Fark you assholes.  This is what you wanted when you elected the Teabaggers.  So stop whining, grab your bootstraps and start pulling.

FTFA:
"You pay your taxes to get certain services," said Bruce Eldredge, executive director of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, a world-class museum in the center of town, which delivered a $10,000 check to the chamber. "We would, I think, probably argue as a community that we pay our federal taxes to make sure the park is open at a specific time."

I guess someone should point out to him that if he doesn't want those services cut, hes probably gonna have to pay more in taxes. Otherwise we get whats called a deficit, and that leads to debt.

THIS.

If you think that some government spending on infrastructure and the like is good, then don't vote for the party that wants to eliminate all spending except the military.  You Republicans whining about the sequester can go fark yourselves.

I really wish we would just run a system with state opt-out options for federal spending.  Let these communities put their money where their mouth is.  And if, like these idiots, you discover that you actually need those services you were biatching about, you can re-apply for federal spending ... next year.  The rest of us will appreciate your poor decision taking pressure off of the federal budget in the mean time.

"If it's a national park, it shouldn't be our burden to operate"

I see.  So you're more than happy to reap the benefits of federal spending in your area but don't want to pay for anyone else to get similar benefits in their area.  I have zero sympathy for these assclowns.  Let them pay for the plowing forever.

I love the conservative outrage about the sequester cuts. It's as if they really thought that the cuts would just go to programs affecting the poor inner city  blah people. Because they just KNOW that is where all the real waste in government is.

Your money, LOL. Son it is not your money and never has been your money. It belongs to the Federal Reserve. You are allowed to borrow it and the Fed reserves the right to devalue it and confiscate it without your consent. Thanks for the laugh this morning.

That sounds like a great idea except for the fact that it would cost more money for the government to come in and fix all the crap that these idiots messed up by being bootstrapy than it would to just tell them to sit down and shut up.

Plus none of these people want the federal government to stop giving them money, they just want the federal government to stop giving money to people they don't like.

This bears repeating. I live in Washington State where this is always playing out in miniature:

'Why does the whole state have to pay for a new bridge in Seattle?'

'So you can get your crops to market more effectively, dipshiats!'
