I thought everyone knew this already:

Jay-Z and Beyonce are the cover names of a pair of top secret agents working for the Obama White House.  They pose as music superstars to travel the world and gain access to countries and information previously unavailable.  In order to appeal to a wider audience, a carefully arranged and staged marriage was shown to the public.  They're clearly in Cuba meeting contacts in order to smuggle information out of the country and back to Obama.

How come they're not investigating why I went to Cuba a couple of decades ago?

Had a freakin' amazing time, by the way, and I'd love to go back.  I recommend everyone should go at least once.

First it was Dennis Rodman, now Jay-Z and Beyonce. This is obviously John Kerry's plan for dealing with communist nuclear wannabes. Thanks Obama!

I know.  It's infested everything there.  I ordered a Mojito in the lounge of the Intercontinental (I think that's the name of where we stayed), and that bastard bartender slipped some socialism into my drink.  Before I knew it, I was looking for a Che t-shirt and trying to give free health care to this chick at the bar who looked like she might have had a rash.

When are we going to lift the travel restrictions on Cuba? If you want to put an end to the communist regime, just pour some good ol' American dollars into their economy and watch how quickly the wonders of capitalism take hold.

I have a cousin in S. Florida who claims he slipped into Cuba for rum, cigars etc. during a fishing trip.

Good thing, because We burned Germany to the ground.
All told, Cuba came away from their debacle with minimal damage. What is happening there now is the continued result of living under an iron fisted government that is only now contemplating reforms.

/Lifting an embargo on someone who threatened us with nukes might not be the best of ideas right now.
/politically, its almost impossible.

First, I'd love to go to Cuba.  I hear the diving is fantastic.  Second, I can't for the life of me understand why we still have an embargo in place.  Want to rid the Cubans of evil communism and get rid of the Castro regime for good?  Life the embargo and watch the people suddenly revolt when they learn they can survive on something other than what Fidel can provide for them.

But I'm guessing that Beyonce and Jay-Z didn't go to Cuba by way of Canada or France, and that they got the special permission from the government needed to go.  I'm further guessing that they're not there on a diplomatic or educational mission, or we'd have heard al about it prior to them going.  Since they obviously have friends in D.C., it strikes me as odd that some people who constantly complain about special privileges being granted to a certain percentage of the population don't at least have a problem with this based on that.  I guess it's all about who's side we get outraged about, no?  Imagine the comments if this would have happened on Junior's watch and it was one of his big contributors that went.

I've always wondered why the US has this embargo on Cuba but happily trades with China.

And how the US can claim to be land of the free while forbidding its own citizens from going somewhere. How does that work?

probably because our economy would shut down if we didn't, thanks to ronnie reagan getting that ball rolling of shipping american jobs overseas for that cheap communist chinese labor so our small number of stock holders can laugh all the way to their overseas tax haven bank accounts.

how do you like those apples, republican.

those who Own the U.S. and its government Fear Cuba because they're afraid that some of that 'socialism' might rub off on americans.  they can't have that.  don't want to give americans any ideas that might interfere with the myth that crony capitalism is the best thing since sliced bread.

The embargo is supposed to encourage the Cuban people to oust the Castro brothers, or something like that.  50 years and it hasn't happened.  If anything, the embargo gives the Castro brothers an excuse.  Shortages?  Blame the malditos gringos.
